This thread is here to show off your Retired Coats. This is not the place to post non retired coats. **The two exceptions would be coats that have been pulled (brief discussions) and the pre release coats.

REMEMBER:

******** absolutely no sales talk, no talk about spares or how many extras of a copy you got and selling them to fund your RC habit this is just a place to talk RCs

* although links and graphics are ok on this thread, they are not allowed normally on public forums

* any negative or unkind comments on artists or coats (or anyone!) will be removed, and depending on the case, it might mean an instant forum ban.

* DO NOT use this as a place to sell your horse/coats-if you feel the need to break this rule, it will mean an instant forum ban...

** Sales ads are NOT allowed in any public forums. Asking for spare coats will now be considered a sales ad. This includes stating that you plan to sell a coat, or point out coats for sale in sales.

* Do not use this place as a spot for rants or complaints-About coats/BG/or each other.

* This is not the place to ask players to price your coats, or to ask others the worth of a coat, you can check uses on your own by hovering your mouse over the gray apple and price it from there.

* This is not the place to bring up the subject of stolen images. Keep in mind that the rules of the BP used to be very different, and many old coats are from that time.
There is not any reason to bring that up, or report the coats.

*Please do not do a coat countdown for soon to retire coats.

* Please do not post coats that are currently in the GA and have either not retired, or will never retire.

* Please do not post coat/bg combos or ask opinions on them, except following coat release.

* Some coats may be removed in the future, whether that be for problems with the coats itself or just because they're clearing room on the server to allow other coats to be uploaded - if you're buying retired coats, please keep that in mind. If you want a permanent copy, I would recommend saving the graphic to your computer

* How to discover who many uses a New GC coat will retire-There is now a coat countdown in the GA, and it will show how many have been used and how many uses there are left.

** There is now a new creations directory which shows all coats. Go to Community>>>Directories>>>Creations>>>Click more criteria, and on the left hand side is a gold and silver apple. Click the silver apple and search to see all retired coats.

* To see who created/how many uses/name/or if you have it already of a RC coat, simply click on the silver apple, and it will tell you.

*** Posting links to other player's coats is NOT allowed and can mean a forum ban.

Coats by both Honnii and Foxylady still appear in the game despite the creators having been left the game a long time ago now. I was also under the impression it was linked to a change in the rules around coats and deletion of accounts, but lots of changes were made with the introduction of the new creation space coats in general.

Just got this beauty! Someone held him for me until I got some pass horses aged up, forever grateful for nice players on this game. Yeah it's impossible to save up any sort of reserve, I went through 2 million equus this month. default smiley xddefault smiley (lol)

Also love these ones of mine, I do collect by rarity but mostly just from nostalgia. I loved these ones back when I used to play in middle school, I swear most of my horses had the same coat just because I had favorites! I hope the horses are out in the game somewhere still. default smiley :)

One of my favourite coats was just removed:



It was a 100 users and definitely from before 2015 possibly 2014 so a very old coat

"The Blue Unicorn" RC was also pulled. Now that they are pulling RC coats, I'm reconsidering how much I've been spending on RC's.... default smiley :(

Yes i've just logged in to finding i've lost those two. As Zilakla has said, two pretty early creation space coats so wonder what the issue was? They don't look the same style but are they linked to same creator?

Onida was from czech author Slovák! second one isn't from the same author, unfortunately few envious people from czech server found out original photo of the horse and reported it, even though it was pretty old,,

I think if a coat makes it thru, is added to the game and makes it to the point it is retired..it should be left alone..a ga compensation is not equivalent to the cost that could have been paid..

Especially when a coat is that old.

The problem is the bigger picture though, if someone makes a complaint about a stolen image/reference etc, the game obviously has to act on that or face much bigger consequences themselves.

I agree it's frustrating when we pay a lot for these coats but it's a risk we've always been aware of as collectors...or we have been for about the last 8 years at least.

I think it's why we have the voting element now, in hopes these stolen images will be hopefully reported and as as such weeded out by players before it comes to this.

Can't more, than just agree with you. Only players, that spent money on these coats, will get affected by it's removing.

Removing coat that is already in game make no sense to me. If Howrse team wasn't able to get rid of it, while it was in voting process, why would they now punish all innocent players.
Like, it's not our fault, that the coat made it through voting,,

Since the Golden Apple is a product Howrse is selling, keeping plagiarized coats is literally illegal, as in Owlient can be sued for it if the owner of the original image so decides, and end up having to pay compensation.

A "new coat addex" yep I agree pull it..
But a coat that has been on the game for several years?? If you aint got in trouble for it by now..you probally wont..for that matter if you are concerned just ask the designer..most would be flattered their design is part of a game and the artwork is desired and collectable..every artist dream.

I realize all of that..the point is there is options if they chose to do the extra mile..
As a collector I also realize "buy at my own risk".
It is just disheartening to see coats that have been on here for 5+ years to be taken away. There are other coats which all of us collectors know are from the same type of situation that are still here..hopefully those won't get pulled, but my point is if they can stay why can't these that have been here for so long.
The rules apply either way.

I know it's disheartening, I've been hit by it many times as well.

But really the only ones to blame and get angry at are the dishonest players who submit stolen coats.

I'm sorry if I'm coming across harsh or confrontational, it's just that this is really not blame that should be pushed on Howrse who is just trying to follow laws and protect the company and the game.

Negotiating a licence to use the coat might be a possibility, it's just that it will cost money to Owlient, and thus they may have very little incentive to try that, when there are lots of legal coats players submit for free.

there may not be a cost at all,the internet doesn't pay for all images it posts ( just saying)
either way it is disheartening for these coats to be pulled when there are other that fall into the same category as we all know. I hope this is not a sign of things to come.

anyway back to rc's..
how about showing the oldest coat in your collection.. not necessarily your first coat , but the oldest released coat.. using coat numbers ( hover over silver apple and coat number should appear at bottom left of screen) it will be a little challenging which should hopefully also make it fun to see how many we can keep in order.. no cheating by going to directories.. lol

for example.. the oldest coat in my herd is coat number 102

In a business everything has a cost. Even if an artist gives a permission to use their art for free, someone has to do the work of obtaining the permission and that someone needs to be paid a salary. Even if it's done by existing staff, the time the employee uses to obtain the permission they are not doing other work, which also counts as a cost for the business.

But yeah, this is getting sort of off topic.
