Got Merry Christmas on my 5th GF

for me it took 13

I'm doing the golden fleeces, and so far I've gotten 19, 18, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10 fragments in each, plus the bonus doubling. I've gotten 15 most frequently, 5 times I believe. I've gotten 19 twice.
I stopped after only needing 318 more fragments, because there are 350 fragments in the first hike. I spent 5,000 passes on this, though this doesn't take into account the secret routes; we don't know how many fragments there are in those. If there aren't any fragments in the secret routes, Merry Christmas will probably cost about 5,000 passes, but since there probably will be, that number will be somewhat less.

Get ready, a new divine is coming out and is given out free if you complete an event, however, the event may be hard to complete so make sure to save up your passes!

Actually there are multiple copies of the 8 fragments in the hike, which should bring the price of the divine down to the usual 2 600 passes if you get all of them!

SO excited for this new breed.

Do we know when the Christmas event starts? Trying to calculate exactly how many tokens we should receive for free.

Usually, it ends after January 6th, but it's mid-week this year, so we'll have to wait to know for sure.
You still get more than 4 weeks though.

Assuming Nalu93 is correct and we start on the 10th and end on the 6th:

Tutorial tokens: 5
Daily login tokens: ~165, not sure
Action tokens: 308
Number of tokens found during the event: 100
Tokens so far from advent calendar: 7
Total tokens received from event: 585

Number of tokens I spent to finish event: 568

Seeing as my estimates for tokens from the event are conservative guesses and I could've spent fewer tokens finishing the event I'd say it is completable for free.

Where is the divine gate along the pathway? Is it theoretically possible to hoard all of the tokens until the divine gate opens and spend them on those paths?

I might have suddenly just found a new project breed to work with.

33 Fleeces to get Merry Christmas, even with the "2 times more fragments" promotion.
I got 21 Fleeces with 1 star, 8 Fleeces with 2 stars, and 5 Fleeces with 3 stars.
I had 36 fragments from the hike event before opening the Fleeces.
In conclusion, if you have terrible luck like yours truly, I'd highly suggest making sure you grab all the fragments in the hike event before opening Fleeces.
I'll try for another one to see if my luck changes.

My guess is there won't be a gate as such. The usual hike has 3 lanes. In the instructions it says you'll be able to move back and fourth between the divine path, normal path, and other divine paths. So I'm guessing the divine path will be the 3rd lane. If so you'll progress on the divine path you have open when you move along the normal lanes too.

I may be totally wrong of course!

If I'm right hoarding tokens might be a good idea.
