We'reseeing the return of the Insular Mine/Elemental Mine Blast event, with a few changes




The playing grid. You get tasks this time to to drop your chests (and the fragments which count towards the divine), so as you see here, once I smash 21 purple blocks and 20 green ones, I drop the wooden chest and earn 1 point/fragment to get the divine. I realize the instructions above mention that you gain points when you get chests, but it seems the Fragments are just indicative of the points you receive for each chest (as the number of fragments you receive for completing the task is relative to the chest rarity as you get 1 fragment when you drop a wooden chest, 2 points for the golden chest, and I'm assuming 3 for a crystal/purple chest, but I haven't gotten that one yet) , and I've asked for clarification to be sure.


Main event page. We only have 2 slots to start off with, and it appears we have to pay passes to unlock the 3rd slot. No mention has been as to whether we can somehow how activate that slot for free. You need 325 fragments to get the divine

New Maori Divine. The Weta companion does count towards the trophies and offers your horse a +3 dressage bonus

I really liked the Insular Mine promo last time, since you could get special coats like the Medallion and Magic Hat outside of around Halloween time. This time I'm definitely not a fan of having to pay almost 500 passes to unlock the 3rd slot. Not sure what kind of feedback made them think that was a good idea??
But I suppose thinking they listen to feedback is a wild assumption on my part

My feeling on that is that it's usual to have to pay to get the divine. So what's the difference? At least that's an upfront charge, so it seems more honest in a way. I have a feeling there will be more to pay on top though.

If it were a "Pay to unlock earlier" and the third slot was unlocked by the Community Objective then I'd understand, because yes you're paying for it but only if you want to. Instead, what we have so far is a "pay or take a penalty for the whole contest" and I don't know how I feel about it.


Regarding the Holsteiner, unless otherwise specified it is a Holsteiner. Yes, we already have it, but not every version has it and it's not the first time they play "catch up"

Exactly Nalu; people who don't pay are at a disadvantage for the whole contest. Last time this promo happened everyone had all 3 slots right away if I remember right, or it was like you said where it opened eventually or you could pay to unlock early.
This way is just unfair and makes the already pay-to-play promo even more difficult.

I'm not against a 'pay to unlock earlier', but it needs to be specified that the third slot will EVENTUALLY be available for everybody. And by 'eventually' I don't mean the last weekend, of course

To expand a bit on what I said...

My basic opinion is and always has been that it should be possible for people to get the divine by playing a promo well. Getting the divine shouldn't be dependent on having passes to spend. That hasn't changed.

However... the fact is that almost every promo it is impossible to get the divine if you don't spend passes.

4th Doctor: you say that this means people who can't pay are at a disadvantage from the start of the promo. But if you have to pay to get the divine then people who can't are at a (major!) disadvantage from the start anyway. Maybe having an upfront charge like this could at least give people some warning so they don't get their hopes up?

I am still actually on the fence about it, depending on how it plays out. If it's unlocked for free later then that may be very unfair on people who've paid to unlock it. Also wondering how much of an advantage it gives: how much it will cost to get the divine without unlocking it, and how much if you do? Does chance play a role either way? More detail and time to do some maths needed to work those questions out! I hope this isn't going to be like the Ice Palace last year, where people who'd paid to speed through then found they had an extra massive expense to pay to break out the divine when they got to the last room.

So... could be an 'honest' upfront charge. Or could be a come-on to spend more money, get committed and end up spending lots more money later. I'm hoping it's the first.

Pass earning changes; where will the daily objectives be located at? And will they be easy or extremely hard to accomplish these daily objectives?

under the achievements menu, and "Daily Objectives" will be right at the top. We've been told that difficulty is based on your general ranking, so the it will vary between players. Today I had to stroke 30 horses, and use an aging point on a horse over 4 years old. Other objectives included using Black Market items from a certain category, winning or simply participating in competitions, removing wings or a unicorn horn, doing things with my EC such as repairing a building, groom a donkey, cover a draft horse, give birth to X number of horses, and produce a unicorn foal, play with a foal, purchase a saddle cloth, and some others. You may not see some of the objectives I listed for awhile yet. I have an account with a much lower rank and seniority on the CZ server that already has the objective system and I have not seen any that ask me to apply BM items or remove unicorn horns.

Something is FINALLY being done about the divine competition shortage!!



So it works the same way as the Ow's Grand Prix does for normal horses at the moment. Whenever there are no EC-hosted comps available, Ow's Grand Prix comps will appear so we don't run out of competitions to enter.
