Honestly, I doubt Howrse would put this change in place without at least a little warning in advance. My aging point farm will also be serving as my pass horse farm when I get to it, so I am not at all worried about wasting equus building it up. Also, it is being "promoted" as it is "still" a current feature, so is a perfectly placed method for gaining passes currently

decide to change the system within the next 2 or 3 months or whenever, they will warn us in advance first. Or they might decide not to do it at all. In any case, this system was announced on the other servers October of last year (it was then implemented a month later) and we've known about it since they have, providing many players with months of opportunity in which they could have taken advantage of the current system.

I actually expanded my pass farm to try for the 30 possible passes every month because I wanted to be stocked up before pass horses are taken away. I still promote this method so players can at least see that it is possible to get divines for free.

Depending on how you go about setting your pass farm up it really does not take much time, and the expense depends on how well funded your account already is. It's up to you whether it's worth it to at least try, even if Howrse does change it sooner than expected, or not bother and it takes Howrse months to change it or never does.

I've played with this new system on the CZ server and I don't like it, so I'll continue to chug away with my pass farm until the bitter end And as Link's Courage said, pass farms double as AP farms so if you'd like the chance to work/Blup horses more at least you'll be gaining aging points as well. You can always sell your pass horses to players who want the Broccoli horse if you decide you don't want to continue your AP/pass farm if Howrse changes it.

That was your choice then not to gain from pass horses. It isn't that hard to get a good game going if you play smart and take advantage of every option going. This system is "expensive" only if you choose to buy horses of pass age or close to it, but if you buy younger horses and care for them each day, you will find it a lot cheaper. Also breed those horses for cheaper additions to the farm. It takes work, yes, but nothing in life is generally free and it would serve people well to learn that early on.

The Derby, and will there still be a lottery after The Great Challenge?

the Derby replaces the Lottery for this Great Challenge, but Admin told us on preprod that the Lottery and Derby will rotate with each so this implies the lottery should follow the next Great Challenge instead of the Derby.

The Derby is like the carnival game where you roll a ball into holes on a table and your horse on the wall moves according to whatever hole you landed in. You play (race) with other people and you roll the ball as quickly as possible in the holes to try and reach the finish line first.

In the Derby you pick an icon and click to throw the ball and it will randomly fall in one of several holes, marked 4, 5 or 6, though there are multiple of each. I'd need to look back at a picture to tell you the exact layout, but that's the gist. Whichever number hole you land in determines the number of paces you move. There are 4 other computer icons you're racing against and you keep throwing the ball until you reach the finish. You are awarded flags depending on which place you finish in and can trade those flags for prizes

The next promo is a tad confusing to me, but I will probably understand it better when it happens.

There will still be the regular Great Challenge, but instead of having the lottery follow it, there is a new event called the Derby. That is where you get a chance to launch a ball into 1 of 7 holes with point values 4-6, which have some numbers repeated, and based off of which one your ball lands in, that determines how far you horse progresses against the 3 other computer generated horses you're racing against.1st one to reach the end gets awarded the most flags and fewer for places 2nd-4th, which you can then save up or spend on prizes with different flag amounts

But... When I testing Ihad 6 holes with numbers: 3, 4, 4, 5, 5 and 6.

Trivia:
Points which we get after (automatic) trowing the ball are giv our some progress line %.
3 points give 6% or 5%
4 points give 7%
5 points give 8%
and 6 points give 9% or 10%

the next event is the Great Challenge, with the Derby as the festivities which replaces the lottery this time.

You only click "START" button (or something like this), and ball get a random animation and fall to random hole.

Does anyone know if at any point during another promotion, there would be a way to get the legendary tack again? I have the tack lying around on my account, and I'd really like to use it on a horse, but be able to use it and get a Legendary from it.
