Maybe I'm not thinking clearly, but I don't see what's wrong with the new pass update....

Doesn't it give players more chances to get passes?? Ten passes a months sounds pretty awesome.

Is there something I'm missing/don't understand?

we have the chance of 30 passes right now by sending horses to heaven at 30+ years old. the first 10 are guaranteed then after that you have a 1 in 3 chance of finding a pass until you reach 30 passes a month.
also with the new update many players are reporting only being able to get 6-8 points a day instead of 10 points a day. this means that you won't even get the 10 passes a month.

But I know that personally, myself and plenty of players don't have the pass horse fodder to get the 30 passes. Aging and caring for all of those horses until they're 30+ is *pricey*.

Even if I was getting 7-8 passes a month, I would easily surpass that 30 pass limit in a few months... I feel as though the new pass system opens up a lot more pass possibilities for new players, younger players, or players who don't keep pass horse fodders for Equus/time reasons.

Again, is there something else I'm missing? I hope I don't sound arrogant or ignorant, but I'm not quite understanding why there are so many anti-new-system surveys and posts?

Well I am going to get richer. There is 1.5 to 2 million equs I don't have to spend on pass horses as I mainly buy them.

I only do the guaranteed 10 howrses each month and no it is not expensive. I work these howrses over the course of a month so I don't waste AP's. There can be a rhythm to it. However, I will lose the extra pass they give you for being a "faithful player". I'm not happy about that.

I think for those who work for the 30 passes....well, they deserve to get those passes. By tightening the noose, Owlient thinks they will make players buy more passes. It's just not going to happen, in fact, some players will quit, others will just slow down their game.

It costs me 3,700e total for my pass horses. I breed my own mares to my own studs so it's 100 for vet fees, then 1200e for boarding for 60 days (multiply by 3 to get 3600e for 6 months) in ECs with fodder. It takes time but it is actually pretty cheap in the long run.


You wouldn't though. Currently you can get 360 passes a year from pass horses max. With the new change, you are lucky to get even 120 a year max. You would never surpass that 30 pass a month limit because it would take you multiple months to even get 30 passes.

The majority are against this change because a lot of players rely on those 30 passes a month to play Howrse their way. This change is forcing players to alter their gameplay to be more conformed. Players now can basically get their free passes whenever suits them and use them for what they need but the new change won't allow that. This new change practically forces players to play every day and gives them less. I personally don't like the thought of this change because some days I am too busy but I use passes from pass horses to help me keep up with all my teams. I am an active player, as I usually end up playing Howrse for almost 5 hours plus normally, and I still don't even get 10 points a day in our current monthly pass system. There is no way I will get close to getting 10 passes a month with this new system and honestly I don't like being forced to change the way I play because of a change to something that didn't need to be changed.

With the new system, a lot of players are reporting that they're only getting 6-8 points a day. You miss out on the passes. It really is MUCH worse

Plus, you're really only thinking about your account and not the community as a whole. Without the passes, GP won't go up as fast, a lot of players will dissapear, etc.

No they don't. They think they are earning more money and deleting more pixels. They don't think that they're helping the community, or they would listen to us and not make the change.

I hate that it also makes MA's more expensive as you get nothing back for them. I'm a little *meh* on spending 3 passes on a MA, but at least for the first 10 horses I kill off I get a pass back (essentially paying 2 passes). And for any past that, I can either gamble on a BM or pass, or I can sell for equs that is about equivalent to a pass. Either way, it makes breeding teams, even personal ones, MUCH more expensive. /not to mention, you get nothing back, except aging another useless divine.

Wouldn't be such an issue if the price for MAs came down...but good luck on that! However, it did happen years ago with Nyx Packs coming down from 8 passes originally if I remember correctly..... Something to balance that pass loss as I don't get to log in and work horses everyday. Some days I only log in for Promos - even a few days in a a row.

I liked the idea of "objectives" each day someone had posted in the past, like for the great Challenges, though more "care" based and no "add a GA of this color" or "receive the color bonus" things. Things you can accomplish, get your points, and get back to real life.

*shrugs* I've already sold off quite a bit of my foundation uni stock and some RCs (which was something I never expected to decide to do after almost 9 years here). Depending on how awful this change turns out to be, I may even sell most everything and either use up and passes/resources I get from that until I'm as far as I can get then quit or simply hold it for whenever Howrse decides to NOT make me have to spend a ridiculous amount of time on here and *hope* I get the loyalty pass points for the next day.

We don't have an exact date but we know it won't happen until after the new year.

If they really where making it "easier" for new players they could just incorporate the new system with the old and allow a mix of the new system and the old.... allowing only 10 passes per month via the loyal pass system and for the older players, could use both horses and the point system for only 10 passes then only horses to fulfill the last 20 passes ... That wouldn't be quite so bad even.
