I wasn't around for the wandering horses, so every time I see them on someone's profile I get a little jealous.

You all do not know what you missed, best promo eve, well all most, Day at the beach was the best.

Sure wish some one read these, and bring these promos back.

I can confirm that the Admins do read over many posts that are made all around the site (indeed, I think that's part of the reason we saw the Cursed Sands make a come back as I recall a lot of people mentioning it at one point)

As for 'Best Promotion Ever' - I'm the one who likes the simple events like the Advent Calendar. No passes required, and everyone gets something.

Don't remember that one but I would like to see the wandering horses again.

@Horsieg - it is, but it isn't.

Like any Advent Calendar - it was simply a matter of logging in and clicking on the corresponding day box to get a gift. Usually, everyone got the same gifts - but there were a few days where if you were lucky - opening the box got you a different gift (I seem to recall one day had the divine Snow as a prize if you were lucky (other players got something else - can't recall what - I think it was a Nyx Pack)

I also think *could be wrong - we're firing up the way back machine here* - that one of the Calendars required you do an objective before opening the door (again though, the objectives were simple things like 'stroke a horse in the Safe haven', congratulate X amount of players etc.)

The beach ride was not pass happy, you just logged in and did your daily stuff, finding beach items along the way, and they had ufo beach buckets floating around full of goodies, items and a Divine.

The cool part was picking your own prizes.

From what I remember, the older events used to be so much better, haha. I haven't been particularly fond of the latest events that have taken place, even the new version of the GC. The wandering horses would be great to have back. So would the ability to buy/win wild horses.

i really liked the Potions promos. You got to use up the stuff just hanging around in your inventory and the gifts were good.

The gifts we get from the current promos are kind of lame these days.

Have to agree. I loved the 'pick your own prize' kind of promos. Like the Potions and the Garden (which was similar to the Potions). Older promos, while some was best to use passes to get the 'jackpot', they weren't as heavy as they have been lately. I really am not fond of the buy BMI to get chance items, like the GC was this past time. While I don't believe it should have been overly easy to get Altair's tack in the Lottery itself, I didn't agree with them being chance items in the GF.

Yes, the game has a large number of adults that work and use some of their pay towards a game. It is definitely not easy for younger players who rely on their parents for daily needs and wants. Even when I was a teen on GaiaOnline and wanted to get the special monthly item, my mother would tell me 'no' on a $3 virtual thing. If I was on Howrse at that time it'd have been definitely a 'not today sweetcheeks!'

See now though, I problem I recall with the 'pick your prize' events of the past was people complaining that they couldn't get enough...let's say 'tokens' to encompass all the events to get the prizes they wanted.

For example - I recall the 2011 Christmas Cards gave out Polar Bear and Penguin tokens. Penguins were quite easy and plentiful to get and given out in values of 2, 4, 5, 10, and 25...However, Polar Bears were a lot less common and only given out in values of 1, 2, 4, 5 and a 5th amount I can't recall.

While many items required just Penguins or a mix of mostly Penguins and a few Polar Bears...I do seem to recall some of the 'better' prizes (Nyx Packs, Morpheus' Arms, etc) requiring a lot of Polar Bears and little to no Penguins.

That, and even with these - some players feel the prizes they get to pick from are not worth what they spent getting the tokens. Using the same promotion again - a player has no Bears or Penguins and spends a pass to buy some more cards. They are lucky enough to get cards that gave them Bears and Penguins only. This is the end result:

27 Penguins (2 + 5 + 10 + 10)
1 Polar Bear

They go to the 'shop' and see the following prize options:

10x Mash = 5x Penguins
50x Straw = 10x Penguins
3*** Classic Saddle = 20x Penguins, 1x Polar Bear
3*** Classic Bridle = 1x Polar bear
Medusa's Blood = 25x Penguins, 2x Polar Bears
Golden Apple = 30x Penguins, 2x Polar Bears

So you can see - while they can get some small prizes...they still can't get back an item that would be worth the pass they spent.

*All of this is just examples, I honestly do not recall the exact prizes given or values needed for these events. In addition - all worths of items are strictly based on their price in the Black Market and not my own or anyone else's opinions.

I wish a promo like the 'baking' promo would come back. That was loads of fun. And the wandering horses. I'm glad the made a come back though. Just wish they had better prizes for the first few

The Potions were a nice 'pick your own prize' kind of thing though, because you could actually choose which ones you wanted and which ones you didn't, so long as you had the ingredients (and few days into the promo most people would have had the basic ingredients). Sure the top prizes were heavy on the unicorn horn/pegasus wings thing, but look at the market today... I think a Nyx Pack was somewhere around 6 uni horns and 3 or so pegi wings, plus random bits and pieces you could get from logging in? That's like around 150k for a Nyx Pack...

And even if you didn't want to take off uni horns or wings you could still get basic BMIs, so pretty much win-win (unless you didn't want to dehorn unis or get 1 pass BMIs, but that's pretty much lose-lose anyway)

I remember this! One of them did require you to do something (I remember them being a bit difficult but I was somewhat a newer player and everything was difficult). But an earlier one all you had to do was log on and click the door. Most of the prizes were pretty basic but one of my friends won Xanthos. I always liked the idea of having another one but I don't know if Howrse could cope with a month off draining us of passes

True, I get mashes, agings, store items and nothing good.

I hated the new great challenge. It wasn't what I was expecting (I didn't read the spoiler zone posts).
