You can destroy them, but you don't get any money back from doing so.

Same, I am finding that I am deleting players that have not been on in months,.... and some just randomly leave. I miss the game from 2007 lol... but with that being said I love some of the new features

Just making sure, I didnt understand if the owner of the horse is going to still get paid for lessons?

So if I have no more job (that howrse took away (vet, RI, farrier, groom and saddler)) then How will I make money now if I can not get money from lessons... I am confused... please someone help me... Because I have a feeling this is a "The rich get richer and the poor get poorer"
By Retired breeder, 21st February 2015 03:57:02
So what exactly is happening with not being able to put our horses in the meadow or box?
I think you still get paid and skills for both mission and lessons.

No meadows and boxes, there are some spoilers around on that. Nouns will be found in rides and missions, more energy in feed, according to pasture of ec, some of food will not cost, you or ec owner.

On the test site, the slider bars for feeding were a lot of trouble, hard to zero in on a tiny dot. anyone else feel that way?

I was wondering when you craft saddle blankets, polo wraps and ear bonnets from your workshop do you get to pick what color they are or is it just the basic color?

They are all the basic 1* tack, so they are all White in color.
It's possible in the future this may change - but at present time, this is the only option (though for it to change, they would need to add in other resources in the form of dyes to get different colors)

Yes you still get paid for lessons and missions.

Lots of people felt that way. The drop down box option is back (though Ow did say "for now").

Just the basic 1* polos/bonnets/saddle blankets that you can buy in the store.

I've been using the slider for ages now because it's a lot more efficient that using the drop down menu. But yes, I have noticed that clicking the exact amount can sometimes be tricky. For instance, when I change the zoom level on my browser the dots don't seem to match up exactly, but if you happen to have a scroll wheel on your mouse you can hover over the general slider area and scroll up or down to make adjustments default smiley (y)

Wow, with all this crafting tack and everything, and what ShorahNagi said about the possibility of dyes coming in the future to make colored tack, this aspect of the game feels similar to that of HorseIsle 2.. I just wish we could take tack *off*.
Retired breeder wrote:

Now, don't get me wrong, it's great to see they're finally coming, but wasn't howrse so adamant about never bringing them that all suggestions to bring them were immediately shut down?

Well they have a context and a use now. It doesn't sound like they'll be like the regular breed on the game - more like donkeys than anything.
I really don't understand why people are having an issue with this... Howrse changed their mind about something because they found a reason that was consistent with the games logic.
For all we know, Howrse could have been saving the drafts for a time - like this one now - where they would have a use beyond just entering them into the GP race.

Retired breeder wrote:

*facepalm* yes, rather than make the game a game, let's make it more tedious for everyone.

You may find it tedious but I bet for others it will add a whole new layer to the game. I, for one, am very excited.
What I find tedious is doing the same thing over and over and over... I'm craving a bit of novelty right about now and the changes ARE game play to me.
And from everything I've read, anyone who doesn't want to focus much (or any) attention on the ECs can probably get by just fine. Once EC owners are able to craft tack to offer to their boarders the extra cost of boarding will be well worth it default smiley (y)
If you board in an EC that offers fodder and oats you are probably going to be better off than you were before the changes to the boarding costs. Are people forgetting that the price of fodder was taken directly out of our reserves back then?

Retired breeder wrote:

for realism, why is there no bank?

There kind of is actually... There is a way of storing money (without losing any over all) which allows you to keep breeding costs low and yet still have the ability to 'withdraw' money at any time if you need it default smiley (8)
But having said that, I don't know why we would need one... Heck if there was one I'd bet people in the forums would be wailing that Howrse is getting too complicated.

Retired breeder wrote:

-why were jobs removed? Are we all supposed to be unemployed?

Being a breeder and/or equestrian center manager is a job, no?
Jobs were a pain... The demand for employees was always going to be higher than what could be supplied to real people (since each EC required multiple employees), so most people would have to resort to hiring those fake temporary employees which is just a sink for money... What was the point of that? If you think about it you were just paying money everyday for a prestige bonus for your EC.

Retired breeder wrote:

That's not how businesses work.

Actually, supply and demand is exactly how business works default smiley (lol) Heck, even if you don't touch your EC at all you could potentially make quite a lot of money by buying items while they are cheap and selling them back for profit if/when the demand increases! You just have to figure out how...You know, play the game. Can't wait the changes on Monday default smiley :-))

Ah... no there's not. There is no way of storing money for keeps for when you need it.

And now you'll have to pay a pass for the bonus if you want it. I'd personally would have rather paid the money.

Did you even read their post?

People don't mix their business money with their business money. That was what they were saying. I don't like the merged reserves.

Here's my two cents.

I love this game and how it is but they are brining a lot of new things out at once and some of it is confusing and it kind of turns me away from the game. Instead of putting a lot of new things in at once, why not slowly put new things in? It just makes sense, it think many people --including me-- will get confused and flustered with having to learn so much stuff in one sitting. I'll really have a hard time with my EC and I know I won't be the only one.

I have a small EC and as soon as my boarders leave, I'm going to have to let it die so I can get stocked up with food, tack and etc so I can provide to future boarders but thing is...that will take a long time since the whole crafting thing is coming out. And because my EC will be dead and not in a good shape, it will take it even more time to get it back up. I just now got my EC back up from the last update....I had 54-57 prestige and it went down to 40. But I got used to the update --that update wasn't as big and bringing a whole bunch of new stuff though, it just upgraded the way EC's are created and where you get things-- and now my prestige is at 69! One of my comps is a rosette one and the other two are catching up. That's pretty good, for me anyways and I want to keep improving but I feel this update will really harm the players like me.

I have little equus, it's hard getting much especially when things already cost a lot. I don't have many horses and to get more, especially good ones, costs a lot. I need good horses so I can breed and get even better ones to then sell some for profit but then that also costs quiet a bit of equus to get them bred. I don't know, I'm up for changes and everything but I think they are taking this the wrong way...too many things at once --the drafts are the best thing really, I'd rather have just them-- and it makes me kind of mad and sad. I love this game but if it's going to get harder for me and those like me, then why bother? Well why should we even bother with the changes really... I want a good EC and everything but it just seems they are making it too hard for those like me to even catch up with those who have a lot equus and everything.

Yes work is good, you gotta work for things and I totally agree. But I'm not complaining about that really, I'm just saying, this update seems to separate the players further apart...the poorer ones from the richer ones. Poorer people like me won't be able to do what we would want to do without it taking forever and practically taking all our equus to catch up finally and just getting to the point where we are able to get going and keep going up but by that time, I feel I won't even care anymore. This is just my opinion! It's ok if you disagree but you won't change my mind. Yes I will eventually get used to this but I'm not sure if It will even improve anything or make it fun... and I play this game to have fun. I think i'll get brought back down some and not get back up to where I would love to be until ages later. I don't know...gunna have to wait and see! default smiley :s

On a positive note, I love that drafts are coming! Cannot wait for them! I need to get my hands on one, if I do, I 'll be super happy! default smiley (l)

Well, you asked for a way to store money. Storing fodder is pretty much the same thing. When you have excess money (if this is at all possible) buy fodder. When you need the money, sell fodder. Of course, if you were thinking of interest rates and borrowing loans then fodder won't do that, but for a simple storage solution like the one you were asking for fodder is pretty much the Howrse bank. As Neferka said, it is a way to keep breeding costs low and be able to 'withdraw' money.

Assuming, of course, that you buy the fodder in the first place. But then again, what active bank account has zero funds?

Before, employees were a requirement to keep up prestige. Now they're not. Even with their limited time perk, I won't be purchasing them mainly because I don't have to. Employees before were a pain as been stated before because the larger the EC the more positions needed to be filled and little to no takers on those positions. In most cases you would be spending the game's pass/equus exchange rate to keep your EC fully staffed at all times.

As it goes for me, if it's not necessary, i'm not buying.

Here's a demonstration (note the time):

Depositing takes a little longer than withdrawing, but I think it's worth it ^_^
Who knows if it will still work after the changes though (what with prices being able to fluctuate).

The new bonus's don't affect prestige in a way that makes them absolutely necessary (unlike the old employees). With the old employees your EC would take a guaranteed decrease to prestige if you didn't have the right amount. With the new bonus's you can get by just fine without them, but like with the VIP perks, they can help make things easier.
The only similarity between the old and the new 'employees' is the the name.

People do invest their personal money in their own businesses actually... But that it besides the point - which in my interpretation was that the game is becoming more 'unrealistic' when in fact adding supply/demand makes it more realistic in my opinion.
