I heard that Blitzen will be able to offer help in the Christmas promo this year. I'm not sure what for yet.

Yes, if you have Blitzen, you can put her to the sleight (harness her - omg, is that the word??) and do trips with her as well as the rest of the deers.

Anyone know when the Christmas promo is likely to finish? I think last year it ended after Christmas didn't it? Wondering if I get something in to creation zone if I'll get the passes in time to use them on it!

Last year it ended on Jan 2nd, and the year before that on Jan 6th.

Last year when we got the divine Blitzen a lot of people were disappointed that even though she was a divine she didn't actually do anything (or give BMI's) AFTER the promo was over. (For instance right now she just sits on my screen and looks pretty. i.e. You can't race her or increase her skills, nor breed her.) Though, I understand from looking at the comments that we may be able to increase her skills during the promo! Yeah! However, Does anyone know if this will be the same situation this year with the other reindeer divines? Will the Christmas divines be basically useless again throughout the year after the promo?

No, there is no increasing of Blitzen's skills, but she can be used in the next promo.
Also yes, the Reindeers are useless outside the Christmas promo, but they're very pretty.
