You are far better off coming up with clear, reasoned discussions on pro's and con's of any changes, rather than simply saying how awful you think it could be, without having tested it extensively. Then use preprod to discuss it with them, and show how it works. They won't take any notice of a petition.

Not really. Getting to 100 is going to be exactly the same. It's just that there is now more incentive to get to 100 and makes it more vital to do competitions.

i guess it won't be much different... I BLUP to a hundred anyway. It just stinks that it is going to be harder to win comps that were hard to win to begin with.

Perhaps Howrse could introduce comps by GP? With low GP breeding, you will have an insanely hard time getting wins and that wasn't so bad when you could get at least 70 blup from simply bolding and aging, but now it will be a lot harder. Even rookie comps are hard to win due to the max requiring already over 1000 per skill. So maybe GP comps could help if similar GP horses raced each other? Seems a lot fairer than just throwing those of lower GP against potentially top GP horses.

The only problem with that is some breeds have a very low GP compared to others. Their top GP could be lower than than another breeds average GP so they would be disadvantaged right away.

Not if it was based on top GP overall, not by breed.

By that way any horse that does not have a GP anywhere near even the average of all the GP's overall will still be disadvantage. Mostly these tend to be the smaller breeds and unis. Just how could a top GP of one breed being say 4000 even match an average of the GP we have now.

I never said that? It would be similar GPs racing each other, not top for one breed and top for another. Example, a top breed of 8000 GP would race no higher than around 8100 GP of a higher breed.

I honestly hope that the blup change won't happen. I mean - for smaller servers it will be like new kind of hell. I have a small team on other version and it takes a LOT of time to get those 20 wins.
We have lower GP (started from the bottom, lol - 350 GP) and sometimes it's simply impossible to win at least few competitions when there are lots of other teams „eating“ comps whenever they can.
It's discussed from time to time - as lot of people get pretty mad when this happens (and I'm not surprised, it's awful feeling - don't know how it goes here and on other versions) and with this „awesome“ change it will be just worse. More teams looking for comps, when there's not even enough comps sometimes and more comps ruined... Yeah, excited. I hope that at leas this change will be for everyone not like the pass-horse change that's still just on few servers (and without any new fix for months).
Sadly... As far as I know, support won't care about feedback. It seems like they never do.
Like if we don't have something nice to say, they don't listen. So yeah... I'll simply pray that this won't happen.

while at first I didn't think the BLUP system was going to be an issue I've started thinking thorough it better. If top teams *need* those wins they are going to be blanketing all the comps making it impossible for stand-alone breeders, like me, to get the wins I need. I have to agree with Link's Courage. If it were divided by GP and skill that would make it possible for the little guys (me and tons of others) to at least enjoy the game and get wins for BLUP. It could at least be done in brackets of GP. Like a 1,000s GP bracket, a 2000s, a 3000s, etc. That would make it much better. As It stands now it took a *lot* of hard work to get my top horse (GP of 8,900ish) to get 20 wins. I can't even imagine how many days/weeks it would take if the top teams were blanketing all the comps. I am going to write to contact us. Just have to figure out the best approach so it makes sense when I explain my concerns. default smiley

I can see this being a moderate issue for teams, but as an individual breeder who really only breeds for herself and her own amusement, I'm not seeing much of a problem with the potential exception of the change also affecting Donkeys. Then again, I don't even breed my Donkeys competitively, so... Even that may not end up feeling like as big a deal to me in the end. I can see it being an issue for the very competitive, including teams. Overall, I still wouldn't say I "like" the idea of this change, but having read Spyder's post a couple pages back the change doesn't seem as dreadful as others that have been made over the years.

I wish howrse would have a poll or something, at least on the french server, before they added a new feature to see if players really want it. There are a few changes I can think of that wouldn't have happened if they had let the players vote on it.

rewarded, everyone else is just being penalized.

Pragmatically, this would make me (and I'm sure others too) want to play the game less. More work = same results as before (for non 100 BLUPers) OR no change (100 BLUPers).

Given that they could easily just have given 100 BLUPers an actual advantage or reward above what they currently gain from their play style, the cynic in me says this is yet another nerf (i.e. way to make people use more resources), but spun in a way to hoodwink people into thinking this is a net positive for the game.
