There is no "welfare" of pixels. Death is a natural part of life. Pixels never die. These aren't real horses. Sorry for being so blunt but thats the reality. Your pixelated horses arent real and they are never going to be real. You cannot kill something that never lived. If you want to be an animal rights and/or welfare activist then go fo it for real, living and breathing animals, not pixels in a game that is slowly being corrupted by its creators.

By your argument the whole game is pixels, and therefore can't be corrupted.

Death is part of life. It doesn't have to be part of a game. Though if you'd read what I wrote properly you'll see I don't object to death being a part of this game.

I don't think anywhere in there I said i was speaking directly to you.
Glad to hear it wasn't directed just at me. My answer still stands though. You can't use the 'only pixels' argument on just one part of the game. It applies to the whole game.

Explain why i cant use the fact that this game is a GAME, therefore completely un real as a valid argument?

Death must be a part of this game. Without horses dying, there is no point to taking care or feeding them. There is no point to the health bar. The way competitions are run is affected. There is no use for several black market items. Pass horses lose their worth. Im sure there are more reasons, but this is just off the top of my head.

I have a question

Click to display

If pass horses are, say, to be replaced with ANY other method, how much of a warning are we likely to get? I want to at least be able to have a chance to use up all the ones I've been stocking. How much time have other servers been given?
As I only play on here and prepod, I'm not sure.

When the system was implemented we were given about two to three weeks, but were told it was going to be an "experiment" (spoiler, it's still there).
So I'm just assuming we're guinea pigs and until we provide results nothing will move. But don't take my word for it. We thought we were quite safe too, at the time, and it's been almost two years...

Please could someone clarify on the CM and PH changes ?

Click to display
As far as I can see the co management changes as per Starynight's post earlier are coming but the talked about pass horse change has not been confirmed?

I've recently come back after a break and was enjoying rekindling my love for Howrse and hoped to maybe join forces with someone on a breeding project. I'm a bit flummoxed now as it looks like stormy times ahead.

Thank you.

Yes, we have seen

the co- management update on preprod. Which isn't set in stone either as things could change, and testers have posted their thoughts and alternative options to what's planned.

In regards to pass horses, nothing has been posted by Admin about it on our server in almost 2 years, and the system has evolved a couple of times on the servers that no longer have pass horses. We don't know if/when the change is coming to our server, or what new system we'll get because it's still undergoing changes on those other servers.

My thoughts on pass horses are no secret to most, but I honestly stopped worrying about the change after nothing more official was posted after several months. The topic tends to run in circles whenever it's brought up again, so while I've thought critically about it, it's not something I'll worry about unless we get official info about it here. Otherwise we'll keep going in circles for another 2 yearsdefault smiley (lol)

If you are worried about these new features, you should be aware that

Howrse is implementing a new function in order to replace the actual way of gaining passes with passhorses. I suppose you have heard some rumors about it.
I am an italian player who has tested this new feature for nearly two years. We were barely able to get 6/7 passes each month. From next week, we won't be able to get passes anymore. Free passes will be replaced by diamonds, and we will have the possibility to get a MAXIMUM of 90 diamonds per month, by completing objectives, including the use of BMI.
Why am I writing this here?
Because we are the actual Owlient's guinea pigs, which is trying to understand how to implement this function in all versions of Howrse, without stirring up a revolt.
We are alone in this battle and Owlient ignores all our gripes.
Is it time to make our voices heard all together?

Sorry for my english, I am not a native speaker.

[spoiler]Sherwood02,see my above post for the original CM post.

And this is the first post I have found to mention the PH. Strangely it was only a few days ago that I had been reading the historical posts in this thread when it was discussed in Oct 2016. I'm up to page 1924 and it started a few pages before.

I wonder, those of you who are strongly against getting rid of pass horses, would you be happy if they replaced them with a system that really took the same place in the economy, and allowed people to make as many passes without killing horses?

Click to display
I stated I am not opposed to removing the pass horses. As long as the amount of work I do now, is the same amount of work I have to do for those 30 passes AND BMI.

Question for you, Miss Blue. When it comes to being an ambassador, do you know if you guys will be interacting with players to get their feedback, or are you guys offering your opinions only on the changes? Please don't take that negatively, I thought that ambassadors were supposed to gather info and relay it back at first, but it doesn't seem to be that way, I think. It's nothing against any of you, I just misunderstood until recently.

I had hoped we would be talking to you guys in polls, your own Forums, etc.

About the changes to co-management- wow, I didn't think it would be that bad, but Howrse does always surprise me that way. This site is a sinking ship.

Sorry, I've been working and just saw this question. I can't answer for anyone else but I watch this thread and I definitely plan on interacting with players. Howrse, to my knowledge, has not contacted any of us with regard to any future plans/changes. We certainly were not consulted about this stuff. I would be raising Cain over both of these things simply based on the player opinions I"m reading here. I want to know what the players think about changes and my response to Howrse will ALWAYS take that into top consideration.

When it comes to giving them an opinion on future plans that have not been divulged to the players and I am prevented from sharing, just knowing how players have reacted to other changes will help guide how I respond to new changes.

I voted for you purely because of your 'comp skills range' stance. There must be something that can be done about this although I don't hold out much hope.

I am trying to BLUP my vintage HOGs, RCs & GAs and it is proving almost impossible. When a 'new' horse with 80 trot but 1200+ dressage and speed can go against my poor little, not even 100 in any skill, horse my mind boggles!

I'm even thinking of starting a Vintage Bluppers Club so that players like me can help each other.

Ooohhhhh, taking that a step further maybe I need to form a Vintage team, Foundies (REAL foundies!) and pre 2015 horses only default smiley <:o)

If this change comes to pass it will get rid of all memorial accounts, like Uggy's, or Zothique and other Howrse legends that aren't with us anymore and cannot activate anything anymore.
Any family that has lost a member and keeping their account alive in memory will lose this account as well. I personally know some of them.
It also will be impossible to keep the account going for a person who e.g. is e.g. in hospital for a longer time than 30 days, like it happend to us recently when my partner was in hospital for well over a month with no internet.
I'm not convinced that harming all those cases is worth it just because some players possibly abuse co management. People will always find ways to abuse whatever system. The solution can't be to punish everybody else for the wrongdoing of a few. default smiley :s

While I think having folks log on every 30 days to allow co is sensible generally, I hope Howrse will make exceptions in cases such as you highlight. There was someone higher up the board spoke about keeping an account open for someone who is no longer physically able to do it and the pleasure that person gets from hearing about it. In some cases I guess someone could use their actual password, but that's not always going to be available.

Not to mention if Howrse catches you using someone else's password to log into their account, both of your accounts can be deleted without warning. This is why people use co to keep inactive accounts active, and why these changes would hurt so many people who are breaking no rules.

Let's face it, Howrse is not going to code in or listen to cases for 'exceptions' for these changes. It will be implemented across the board or not at all, which is why if you disagree with it at all you need to raise your voice. As I stated earlier, if these changes were options for co management- meaning if the account's owner had the CHOICE to automatically withdraw co access after 30 inactive days, or to not have someone on their account at the same time as them, that would be fine and I would take no issue to that. Forcing it onto everyone is just going to cause pain.

I also have to speak very strongly my opinion on the idea of people using inactive accounts for their resources as being cheaters. If I were to quit today but leave my account open for co access to my team so they could continue to use my items, passes, and resources, that is MY choice. I paid for those passes with my real-life Earth dollars. I spent real time farming those APs and earning those items. They're mine and I have the final say about what happens to them. If I want to delete my account and kiss them all goodbye, so be it. If I want to leave them to my teammates to put to good use, that's MY CHOICE and the idea of that being a form of *cheating* is, frankly, offensive. It's absurd that Owlient believes they can charge their exorbitant pass prices and still have the final say about what you spend them on and how they're spent. Our accounts are our own, and this constant infringement and restriction on how we're allowed to use them is why so many players can no longer be bothered to stay.
