with the mini games needed to get the passes.. that makes it even worse because some of them do not work for me on my phone.

Can anyone tell me what the next promo is and a little about it?

What are the new pass horse changes and when will they be going into effect on the international server?

Not only will we get fewer passes, but older horses will be pretty much worthless. This will affect players who make an income from selling pass horses. I mean let's be honest here, do players really want to buy/waste aging points on older horses just so you can see a pointless divine grow? I certainly wouldn't. I can see a lot of players quitting if the change does take place.
@ TheTateAffect

By the same token I will save a ton of equs. I only buy.

Newer players will also save.default smiley :)default smiley (y)

I wish they would realize that the majority of players don't want the change. You can get up to 30 passes per month with pass horses, but if the change takes place then it will be reduced to 10 per month. Starting to get annoyed with how money hungry this game is getting. Get a grip Howrse.

I miss the days before Ubisoft bought Howrse.. contests were every few months and it was about the game, not making tons of money by having players buy tons of passes every week (I played this game when Howrse first started, played for years until this happened then deleted my account)

There is no going around it.

It will eventually arrive here on Int as well.
We'll have to adapt or step out.
No matter what that change will have a major impact on the game as we know it.

Some will leave, some will breed less, some will loose their regular income, perhaps more will just play the promos and nothing else.
.
No matter what eventually there will be less passes to go around, unless more players start to buy passes with RL $

BM items will become more expensive in the exchange.
You can already see items becoming more expensive due to the latest changes. Pandoras Boxes and Helios Rays are just 2 such items that have become more expensive

Everything seems to be about spending real life money these days. For rich people, or kids with allowances, this isn't a problem. But it is a problem for the majority of the adult population and probably a lot of the youth population too. Games are Games and unless there are real things, tangible things involved, real money shouldn't be required to make players successful in the game.

It simply means I don't have to spend 1.5 to 2. million equs on pass horses.

And newer players that just don't have much equs can actually save as they don't have the equs in the first place. I think this is one of the reasons behind this change.

Whether or not you buy pass horses is your choice. You can choose to save money and let your horses naturally age to gain passes (this is what I do), but if the change did happen then this wouldn't be possible anymore. That's the main reason why I don't like the change.

I agree -- many rely on getting 30 instead of 10.

Wait I thought it was already 10. How do you get 30? is it 10 per week?

@Lilly11 currently, you're guarteed 10 then if you've gotten 10-29 there's a 1/3 chance of a pass, otherwise it's a BMI or something like that. You can't get more than 30 per month from pass horses.

Honestly, earning equus is super easy. There are multiple ways to do it, you just gotta be willing to work at it. I mean, gradually, you can buy x6 25-acre meadows, and put in the "expensive" cows, and then in 30 days, from each meadow, you get around 37000 leather. If you sell all the leather you got from the 6 meadows, you end up with close to 1.1 million equus per months, without doing really anything. There's also the option of buying and selling horses for a profit. I currently do that, and it's working pretty well. There are multiple other ways to earn equus, but the two methods I mentioned are probably the most efficient methods.

That is what's happening
(re-clarifying this again)
What will happen is that

pass horses will no longer be a thing. The current possible 31 passes a month will be reduced to 10 passes a month. To get those passes you have to earn points every day (so it's similar to the current loyal pass meter we have now), 10 points max per day, and the meter caps at 30 points. When you get 30 points you play the mini game to get your pass so theoretically it will be possible to only get 10 passes a month, once every 3 days (in a perfect world). They're still testing the system because on the servers where this has been implemented the points are much more difficult than they are to get now.

What will happen to older horses: The first ten horses you send to heaven that are older than 25 years old will give you a horse called Yggdrasil. You can't care for him or enter comps with him. Every time you send horses older than 25 to heaven you get tree rings you can give to him and you can make him grow which you will eventually see in a photo album on his page. I recently learned you can rename him. That's about it. You get no passes from him.

There will also be a "horses sent to Safe Haven this month" ranking as well as "all age horses sent to heaven" and "older horses (25yrs+) sent to heaven" rankings

We're not sure yet, as it's still in the process of being tested in other servers. It will be happening this year, that's all we know. I assume within the next few months.

As much as Ihate the upcoming changes, Ubisoft is the same company who owns Assassin's Creed. They own games that make them money. That is all they care about. If you don't like it unfortunately it's not likely they will care because plenty of people still like the game. Me personally I have never really relied on pass horses until recently when I've been able to get some, but I've been spending over 100 in real money every month since I started playing so it doesn't affect my game much at all except that now I get them just for playing every day I don't like killing my horses off so most months I don't even kill horses for passes. Don't care for the new dead horse rankings since we have a number of horses rankings and it seems weird to want to be ranked high for killing something, even if only virtually. I hate the divine we are supposed to be getting, and I don't like these new divines taking our droppings since there is a ranking for that and it takes droppings to make manure which I use in meadows to grow my crops which is a major source of income for me.

This is very interesting!

I see this from a very different perspective than most players. I started playing Howrse more than 8 years ago. Since my first day, I have only sent one horse to heaven. One! I did it to pass an objective and immediately regretted it because it ruined my perfect NONE! I was well aware that I could have gained passes by letting my horses grow old and die, but I was more interested in hoarding foals. default smiley :$ (Yeah, I'm totally aware that was a completely useless endeavor and I missed out on hundreds of free passes over the course of 8 years, but what's done is done. default smiley xd ) I didn't sell horses or anything else for passes either. If I really wanted them for whatever reason, I purchased them, but I did so sparingly. I am *ahem* quite far from rich. I went months at a time without purchasing a single pass at all or earning them in the game. Did I feel my game suffered as a result? Not one bit! I'm an ultra-casual player with an ultra-causal game style. (Notice how few divines, wilds, etc. I have. default smiley ;) ) I have fun with this game in my own relaxed way.

However...

I am very intrigued by Yggradsil. I am familiar with the concept in Norse Mythology and I see how this divine ties in. I might actually age my horses and allow them to die in order to gain him and watch him grow. It might even renew my interest in this game.

As for the new pass system, it may or may not be a boon to me. It depends on how the points are generated. I don't see myself complaining either way.

So long as they don't make it impossible for me to play Howrse the way I have always chosen to play it, I think I'll stick around for a few more years. Of course, I'll continue to drift away from the game for weeks and months at a time. That's just a natural fact of my life. When real world matters demand more of my time, Howrse gets less of it.

Please understand, I am only sharing my perspective. I know it's too unique to expect anyone else to agree with me or to persuade anyone that they should play the same way as me. I like being such a weird player. default smiley :d I doubt anyone else would get as much out of the game as I do if they were to copy me. I also understand that most people have game play styles and goals that are radically different from mine, and that this change will negatively impact many of them, though not all. So, I humbly ask that you take my perspective with a grain of salt if you must, and try not to persuade me that I'm too weird or wrong or should do anything differently. Let us each play our game in the way that makes us happiest for as long as we are able.

Happy Howrsing to all!

The Silver Unicorn, that's the same way I play. I'm not rich either but I have just enough to buy something every two weeks for my game here, thus my success. Becuase of my hoarding as well it's difficult to do pass horses, but somethimes the passes are worth it, though usually not. Being able to get a few passes a month doing nothing but playing my usual game will be nice. I spend an hour and a half on here every single day so getting the points won't be too difficult.

Sorry my question is how do we report a problem on the prepod with what we are testing? I don't know if this is where I ask....

The full instructions on how, and where, to report issues on preprod, are in the testing forum on the preprod site itself.
