Iris Coat Breeding

Hi all!

I have a mare who has reached 30 years of age. I want to *attempt* to breed her to another Iris Coat to try to get it passed down genetically. Of course, I know there is only a 50% chance for this to be successful. But, I was wondering if the horses have to be the same breed? Do both horses need to be over 30 years of age?

Thanks for any information you can provide! PM me if you have a "success story" to share, too!

They do not have to be the same breed. I got an Iris Coat from a Thoroughbred and a Mustang. And no, the stallion does not need to be over 30 years. Hope this helped

Keep in mind it's *exactly* 30 years of age, no more or less, not *over* 30 years. If the mare is covered at 30 years and 2 months or more, you will not have the chance.
