Tell me About Your Heart Horse

Mine is Susie, a QH pali who loves jumping
She's taught me so much, and helped me through a really tough time last year
Someone who used to be my friend started leasing her even though she knew Susie was my heart horse.

I actually have 2 heart horses one is my Appaloosa named Spookie she is absolutely adorable and loves to go on trail rides with me and my sister. My second heart horse is a quarter horse who was named Sahara but I changed her name to Moonlight because she i truly bright shining star with a heart of gold. Both of them I bought on horse sales had no idea why they were there as they both have hearts of gold. I've had Spookie for around a year now and she has helped me so much in life. I've had Moonlight (she's called Moon) for a about i think 4-5 weeks now and she's actually starting to come out of her shell. I'm truly thankful that I have my horsesdefault smiley (l)

I had a heart horse when I was very young. He was a black and white paint. His name was Say Geronimo (Geronimo). He was born at my grandmother's barn and was my future barrel horse. She got into some financial trouble and sold her whole herd including my beloved Geronimo. I found out at 8 years old (7 years after he sold), then he passed due to owner negligence. I never got a chance to ride him or barrel race with him and I think about him just about every day.

I have a heart horse :P her name is Wish, I've had her for about a year. She came from an abu*sive background but she's originally from the Amish. She's a 10-15 year old Tennessee Walking Horse! She is the definition of "Mare-ish" lol. She's sassy and she knows it!! We have super amazing bond and she teaches me something new everyday. Love her

My Heart horse is a lovley and a bit crazy Thoroughbred mare, named Roryslittlesister. She has a heart out of gold. But sometimes she is a bit crazy and not easy to handle, thats because she is an ex race horse (but i love her aniways). Probably we let her cover next year and than she gets a foal, thats going to be so cute!

My heart horse is Reverse Crimson, a 1992 buckskin mare, out of crimson rogue, and a dun mare, crimson passed just last year around Christmas, she was old and had laminitis, I got her in 2005 for my first horse when I was 7 I’m now 25, she taught me the basics of showing, caring for a horse and everything, I bred her in 2020 (2 vets gave me the approval) and had a grey colt, I still own him and he’ll stay here forever, I cherish that mare as she taught me everything, she was the sweetest mare and had such a personality, I still think of her and her stall remains open, I do not plan to fill it as she earned it, I love that mare and everything she’s done for me, her colt reminds me so much of her and I will forever thank her for giving me him.default smiley (l)

I actually have two. My first one was Reglyce (random fact: réglisse is the French word for licorice). She was a 13yo Anglo Arab horse when I first rode her. She was a very emotive mare, and somehow we just clicked. It was obvious and my coach directly noticed. She got me through my first real sensations in eventing competitions, and so many beautiful emotions. I still miss her everyday.
The second one is a Lusitano horse called Beethoven. He’s 17 now, but also a very very sensitive and emotional horse. He’s learning me a lot. Lightness, precision… he’s always been my remedy when I wasn’t feeling alright this year. He’s amazing.

Mine is a quarter horse x stock horse called Santana . I went to a agricultural collage where I did a certificate in horse performance and we were given a 3 yr old to break in . He was the plainest looking thing and we did not get along at the start . I ended up calling him sultana and making him a liberty horse as well as a riding horse, as he was so eager to learn and be your best friend . in the end we could do so many tricks as well such as counting , smiling, hugging and self loading on and off a float liberty style . he would always come when called in the paddock and could be taken out to the stables and arena without a halter

once the collage year ended I had to say goodbye to my beloved little sultana . so many tears. the next year he was sold in the collage auction ( part of the course ) and went for $15,000 I believe . if I had the money , I would of purchased him myself but was limited at the time . I own 2 horses now , but nothing can ever replace the bond and love I had for Sultana.

I miss him everyday

Mine is a purebred Tennesse Walking Horse named Verlette (Zephyr's Verlette Rose). I got her when I was 7 years old (She was 6) and now I am 23 (She is 21). I have shown her all over everywhere. We went through all but 2 4-H State horse shows. We even qualified for 4-H Southeast Regionals where we won against 47 other gaited horses and were the 2014 4-H Southeast Regional Champions. Nowadays, we mainly do trail rides and the occasional local show. She is also fantastic to teach my fiancé how to ride. She will forever be in my heart, even after she leaves this earth. I may have another heart horse in my lifetime, but I don't know if they will ever match up to my girl.

My heart horse/pony is a 14.2hh strawberry roan appaloosa blanket mare (yes it is quite a mouthful) who is just nine. Gem is an angel in everyway and so far has brought me from 50cm to 90cm and our highest jump together is 120cm. She is spooky and can be a handful sometimes but she is my dream pony in everyway. I'm so glad I can call her mine

My heart horse was my 16.2, dark bay, TB/Hanoverian cross named Leroy. He was the lankiest, most awkward looking thing, and I loved him to pieces. We mostly did the jumpers, and played around in the equitation from time to time. When I went to college, I couldn't afford to keep him, and I needed to buy a car to get a job, and it broke my heart. Luckily, I sold him to someone in my barn, so I still got to see him when I came home from school, but then she eventually donated him to a riding school when she went off to college, and I lost track of him from there. I wish I could have bought him back, and she offered him to me, but I was fresh out of college and still couldn't afford him at the time. I miss him everyday and wish he was still here with me.

My first heart horse was Doc. He was a 15 ish hand sorrel gelding, he had a big divit in his neck from a stallion biting him when he was a baby. I loved him so much. He taught me every thing I know. Every horse before him was a trail horse who needed no reins or saddle to be rode, they knew what to do by themselves. Doc was different. He showed me freedom and what it is to love a horse with all your heart. I was only 8 when he was sold. It broke my heart. i rotated on and off many different lesson horses for about 3 years. Then I found another heart horse. This girl was much different. She rocked my world like no other. My parents didn't know the "no green horse and green rider" rule. She was a little dapple buckskin. Grade, 14.2, touched 2x, had a halter 1x; on her way to my house. I had barely turned 12. It was love at first sight, rolled in with a giant load of pressure and fear. She was completely unbroken and loved to buck. It was a long messy journey. All of my confidence and progress was knocked back to square 1. it was hard, I had to retrain my left how to ride, all while teaching Kiwi with me. We learned together, made mistakes together, got hurt together, held some grudges, learned our own weakness, and quearks. It made us stronger. When I was 13 I made a lot of progress with her. We did so many things 2023, our first jump, cow heading, trail rides, shows, we did a bunch. Then the horrible happened. She had a terifiing accident that ruined her hocks, we tried riding but have had no luck. Every time I rode her she would buck me, we had got over her bucking stage about 2 years ago. I could tell that she was in pain. One the ground she was happy and could run and jump fine. when we rode though, she was in pain. I had to make the tough decision today to completely retire her. It was horrible, I cried, I hate myself for letting this happen, I hate this useless feeling of not being able to help her. I know that this is really long, I'm sorry. Thank you so much for reading all this. I want you gouys to know that Howrse is a safe place for me where I can share my feelings, it means a lot. To anyone who is wondering, no I'm not selling Kiwi, she is my heart horse, I love her more than I could ever think possible, if she has to be retired then so be it. all that matters is she is happy. I heard somebody once say " I got the horse I needed, not the one I wanted" I may not be able to pursue my riding dreams at the moment. Thats ok, I have a best friend now who will always be there for medefault smiley (l)

i have two heart horses....

the first one is an old palomino quarter horse mare... she was just used as a pasture ornament before she got to me and i was quite young when we first brought her home, but eventually i started riding more and even though she was nowhere even close to a show horse, she carried me through my first two years of showing. i spent hours upon hours with that horse, and she really boosted my confidence but she was unfortunately injured so she is now retired to pasture.

the second one is also a palomino, but a tall, stocky quarter horse mare. she's moody, but the second i saw her we instantly clicked. she tripped at our first show together due to bad ground but she held herself up for me so that i wasn't injured. she has taken me so far and i can't wait for the journey ahead with her default smiley :)
