Rides stop leveling?

I've noticed that on a couple of my horses, the mountain rides stopped leveling skills and started just taking energy, but the forest rides continue to level skills. One horse has maxed out skill, the other horse doesn't have a maxed out skill. Why is that?

That is normal, there is a maximum amount of pints you can gain from all rides, training, and competing.

In order to get all skills in bold, you need to complete rides, training, and competitions.
