Energy % for Competitions Varies?

Hello all,
Am I just crazy or do some horses require a larger % of energy to do the same competition? What causes this? Is it GP related, EQ Center related, etc.?

Also the age of the horse. Older ones need more energy to run.

I believe some of it is skill-related (lower skilled horses need more energy to do competitions than higher skilled ones).

Also being in an equestrian centre box with a shower will lower the amount of energy it takes to do everything, including competitions.

Some of it is, as noted above, skill related. It makes sense -- someone with more skill at a task will do that task easier and faster than someone with less or no skill. Like, my mechanic can fix my truck and make it look wicked easy... and if I tried, it would take forever, far more effort, and still wouldn't be done right. default smiley (lol)

Lower than 100% morale will also cause a horse to use more energy.
