This thread is here to show off your Retired Coats. This is not the place to post non retired coats. **The two exceptions would be coats that have been pulled (brief discussions) and the pre release coats.

REMEMBER:

******** absolutely no sales talk, no talk about spares or how many extras of a copy you got and selling them to fund your RC habit this is just a place to talk RCs

* although links and graphics are ok on this thread, they are not allowed normally on public forums

* any negative or unkind comments on artists or coats (or anyone!) will be removed, and depending on the case, it might mean an instant forum ban.

* DO NOT use this as a place to sell your horse/coats-if you feel the need to break this rule, it will mean an instant forum ban...

** Sales ads are NOT allowed in any public forums. Asking for spare coats will now be considered a sales ad. This includes stating that you plan to sell a coat, or point out coats for sale in sales.

* Do not use this place as a spot for rants or complaints-About coats/BG/or each other.

* This is not the place to ask players to price your coats, or to ask others the worth of a coat, you can check uses on your own by hovering your mouse over the gray apple and price it from there.

* This is not the place to bring up the subject of stolen images. Keep in mind that the rules of the BP used to be very different, and many old coats are from that time.
There is not any reason to bring that up, or report the coats.

*Please do not do a coat countdown for soon to retire coats.

* Please do not post coats that are currently in the GA and have either not retired, or will never retire.

* Please do not post coat/bg combos or ask opinions on them, except following coat release.

* Some coats may be removed in the future, whether that be for problems with the coats itself or just because they're clearing room on the server to allow other coats to be uploaded - if you're buying retired coats, please keep that in mind. If you want a permanent copy, I would recommend saving the graphic to your computer

* How to discover who many uses a New GC coat will retire-There is now a coat countdown in the GA, and it will show how many have been used and how many uses there are left.

** There is now a new creations directory which shows all coats. Go to Community>>>Directories>>>Creations>>>Click more criteria, and on the left hand side is a gold and silver apple. Click the silver apple and search to see all retired coats.

* To see who created/how many uses/name/or if you have it already of a RC coat, simply click on the silver apple, and it will tell you.

*** Posting links to other player's coats is NOT allowed and can mean a forum ban.

*#*#*#* If players feel the need break the main topic rules, such as sales ads/coat countdowns/spares-you can expect an instant forum ban without any warning prior to it *#*#*#*

I too am very disappointed.. I have spent over 200000rq and unlimited amount of passes buying these horses as i wanted to do so as a tribute to the designers.. I have been collecting for a while now and even I didn't know that you could bring a coat back after it was retired.. as for coats that are deleted a golden apple is good but it doesn't compensate for the amount of money or passes we spend that we may not have spent on a coat that is new to the game. I understand clean sweeps but feel that the coats shouldn't be deletred as for the above mentioned reasons.

so far I have spent about 30 passes buying up those quasi retired howrse and some like Craquotte have been on recently and some have not played for over a year.

I am buying up as many of the older coats for a friend in case they are removed. It would cost me over $300 to do so but at least I can get some of the oldest ones.

i've spent or should that be 'wasted' passes on those retired coats too (i didn't know they could be brought back after being retired and it seems to make 'collecting' them a waste of time) but i do know that now as i've just put both of CraXoR's coats on horses as they are now available again!

Thanks to all who have given me lists of horses that seem to be confused on whether they're retired or not - I've passed these to admin and I have sent a few messages to owners of the coats to see whether we can clear up what's happened. If it is a case where retired horses have returned without their player's knowledge, then hopefully we should be able to return them to the retirement home.

With regards to the 'retired' nature of retired coats, I'm extremely sorry there have been misunderstanding on how the coats work - I have to confess I put this thread up as a response to a feedback request on the Ideas forum to allow people who actively look for the rare/non-available coats to work together in collecting all those ones which are not around. Certainly players are able to control their coat, whether it's up for public sale or not, and this has been around since the Black Pearl started - however, I do entirely appreciate that it's going to be one of those things that players may not know until they have physically tried it. I only knew about it myself when I tried it and discovered the "reactivate coat" button.

Unfortunately I'm not sure there's much we can practically do in order to resolve issues over past coat purchases, as technically the coats always could be brought back (on the assumption that the retired coats did pop back without owner input). However, if I hear anything, I'll be able to let you guys know

I admit I didn't know coats could be "unretired" but that doesn't really bother me so much. What bugs me is the situation going on now, where coats show up as retired and are still available for purchase. I have a feeling this is going to turn out to be some sort of coding glitch, and that most of the coats in question aren't really retired at all.
By Retired breeder, 15th June 2009 11:51:15
I really don't know how I feel about my coat collection now. I like collecting rare things but it's no fun to become aware that the rarity of your collection is constantly up in the air and may change - I thought a retired coat was exactly that... Perhaps the phrase we should be using is currently unavailable? I have certainly wasted passes on coats that were supposedly retired and yet are now available for a mere Golden Apple.

Not giving up coat collecting, just...uncertain about whether it's worthwhile spending lots of equus and passes on coats that may reappear in the BM (or indeed never stopped being available...).
Well if a bunch of coats that were available last week are suddenly unavailable and the reverse is true it sounds awfully coincidental...

Wishing you all a good day

this really burns me. I just spent 10 passes on the CraXoR with out wings...and now it's available again? I just sold the CraXoR with wing to inner chorus, for quite a bit while she could have got it with one golden apple...
By Retired breeder, 15th June 2009 12:21:08
I know how you feel, Dotty. I too have spent passes recently that I obviously would not have done had I realised I could simply buy the coats from the BM. It's a shame, but I feel like for now at least I've lost some enthusiasm for collecting.
By Retired breeder, 15th June 2009 12:22:11
freddiemac11 - Don't blame yourself, that wasn't your fault. I'm certainly not blaming you. Neither of us had any way of knowing that it would become available again.
By Retired breeder, 15th June 2009 12:22:59
Needless to say, I am a bit gutted though, default smiley (lol).
By Retired breeder, 15th June 2009 12:31:19
I never knew this myself...whats the point of retiring the coats if they can be brought back with a click?

Thanks Jaguar for explain this I had no idea about all the links to retired, link to bring back.

I thought some of my coats were pretty rare, so do we just treat all coats like regular Golden Apples? Or do most of the retired coats really stay retired?
By Retired breeder, 15th June 2009 12:33:12
But my question..maybe someone talked about this I just wasn't thinking.

Why did the coats that retired Jun. 6 "say" they were retired, if they were really not and assuming they were never retired before.

What does the 'select a coat for your horse' mean now?
By Retired breeder, 15th June 2009 12:55:27
i really hope it's not looking through the coats. so many people on the private sales will be posting coats that they say are retired. they say they looked through all the coats and couldn't find it, so I think there would be alot of confusion and wasted time if that was what happens..put of course I'm not owlient.

Inner Chorus default smiley (lol)

so players get no compensation for these retired coats? I didn't buy too many but a few and sold them as retired because.. i clicked them, I no doubt feel cheat & I've cheated others too.

i've seen alot of sales still advertising those retired coat, that really aren't retired & see quite a few people still buying them. will some messages be sent out of such?
PalaminosRcool - I have the coat http://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=5770211 on my blupped thoroughbred gelding Wayward Lad 5* but he's not for sale default smiley :)

I've checked them and they aren't in the Black Market!
By Retired breeder, 15th June 2009 14:14:21
SVH - Yes those defiantly are gone for the moment..but apparently they could be back tomorrow.
By Retired breeder, 15th June 2009 14:17:04
To my understanding we won't have any compensation at all?
Just a quick question that probably a lot of other collectors have asked themselves...How are we suppose now to know if a retired coat is a retired coat ??We usualy did click on the GA but with what is happening now default smiley :k.For older coat and rarerer coats ,how are we suppose to figure out if they really have gone or if they are under the glitch occuring at the moment??If you have any answer to that I would be glad to hear it .I am a little default smiley :@at the moment knowing I have no means to really know if i am being scam or not when I buy a ''RETIRED '' coat
Thanks

i think you have to look if the coat is still available in the black market so trawl through all the pages to see if its there .. not forgetting it might 'return' at any time so i suppose no coat can ever be considered retired unless the player has completely closed their account

That isnt a good way in my personnal opinion since I have coat that arent retired from breeder who are no longer on the game take for exemple Honii the coat is still available or Foxylady her coat are still available but she is no longer a player on this game .I don't know if browsing through the golden apple is worth anything .I remember a time where there was 54 pages of GA so a lot more coats were showing .Now with usualy only 24 ,25 pages .A lot os available coats arent showing but it doesnt mean they are gone for good.I would really appreciate if a green or a blue one could tell us really what we should be doing now to check for the retired ones default smiley :k

yep you are right Dotty ..i thought when a player closed their account the coat went with them .. there will come a time when it won't be worth putting a Golden Apple coat forward as the chances of anyone seeing it amongst pages and pages of coats will be very slim

It depends of what you are looking for .I am always looking for the rarest coats among them all .I never browse the few first pages...I start with the end default smiley (lol)I strive to get the coats that have the least amount of exemple on the game .I have a lot of my coats that have less then 5 on the entire game so this make them even more rare once they go retired default smiley :pBut now with no way of knowing for sure if we can count on the fact in doesnt appear when we click on the Ga and having browse the enntire golden apple available. We still can't be sure if the coat is a retired or not .I think it will spoil definitly the relation buyer and seller had between each others as now us buyer will always have the doubt that it may bounce back available when you purchase a RETIRED coat

Well, this is an interesting spot we've gotten into. As for the people who didn't know that coats could come back- take for example, the coat Opium (I have it on my welsh stallion, Perfect Tommy). This coat was very popular from the get-go, when it first came out, but it soon became retired, and not too long ago, it was avaliable again. I'm not sure if it's currently avaliable, but that's just an example of one coat that comes and goes.

Oh yes, and if anyone is wondering which coats Jag was talking about (that she retired), I have them on my Paint stallion, Kissanangelgoodmornin and my Aussie (?) mare, Angelchaser. I'm glad to see this is getting cleared up, but I dearly hope that this doesn't ruin your zest for collecting, Dotty, gizmogizzard, and all the other top collectors. (although that would clear up a lot of competition for me... default smiley (lol))
