Ok so my day 3 on my testing.

If some of this doesnt make sense, please correct me. I'm REALLY bad at math, but I'm doing my best here.

Ok:

For the Derby/festivities whatever, the largest major complaint in the year previous was how interactive it wasn't. So this year they added a slingshot that you can pull back and shoot the ball to get your horse to race foward.

When I first started playing, it really seemed like the slingshot was essentially useless. But if Howrse wants to fix the interactive problem, why in the world would they add something purely aestetic

But it genuinely seems that what it is. If that's the case, I will definitely be leaving my opinion on that in the test server.

I recorded the numbers I got today. It's only 5 per method, so I will be compiling more data for a better average over the next few days.

Here is what I got:
Click to display

So I started with pulling the slingshot back as little as possible.

Race 1: 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 5, 5, 3
Race 2: 4, 3, 4, 5, 5, 5, 3, 5, 5, 4
Race 3: 4, 3, 5, 5, 4, 4, 6, 5, 6, 4
Race 4: 5, 6, 4, 5, 4, 5, 5, 4, 6
Race 5: 3, 5, 4, 6, 4, 5, 6, 5, 3

Then I pulled it back the maximum amount

Race 1: 6, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 4, 4, 3
Race 2: 4, 3, 4, 5, 4, 5, 5, 3, 6, 5
Race 3: 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6
Race 4: 4, 6, 3, 3, 6, 4, 4, 5, 4, 5
Race 5: 6, 5, 4, 5, 5, 5, 4, 3, 6

So what I did to find out percentages was this:

I figured out the percentage I got of each number for each individual race and averaged them.

Minimum Pull: 6 (14.4%) 5 (20.8%) 4 (33.6%) 3 (14.6%)
Maximum Pull: 6 (18.4%) 5 (20.8%) 4 (44.4%) 3 (16.2%)

In conclusion

Click to display
It looks like the percentages are too close to each other to be able to say for sure. I will take down all my numbers from today onward, and average all that together at the end to see if there's a real difference.

If you want the divine, every flag counts.

This is a lot of time/work, so if nobody cares about this aspect let me know default smiley (lol) I defnintely don't want to clog up the Spoilers Forum with meaningless posts, and i definitely don't want to waste my time. But I have 0 problems with it if it's welcomed information default smiley (a)

How did you figure out the probability percentages in the second spoiler? The maximum pull percentages add up to 100% (99.8 which is close enough), but the minimum pull percentages only add up to 83.4%. Is this a typo or am I overthinking this? I did probability percentages of my own using your numbers from the races and got the following percentages:

Minimum Pull: 6 (12.5%) 5 (37.5%) 4 (35.41%) 3 (14.58%)
Maximum Pull: 6 (18.37%) 5 (20.41%) 4 (44.89%) 3 (16.32%)

you can still unlock those thresholds based on the horseshoes you gathered, and during the festivities you can also unlock the divine in reserved sales after you open 8 TCs without claiming the divine. It starts at 19 passes, and goes down by 2 passes for every TC you open

Of course they had to put them into TC's, so you'd have to spend more to get them than what they'd give you back in 70-75 years -.-
Took me 4 passes and 80 diamonds... but at least I got Huanglong with only one HOP from Xanthos... it would've levelled things out if it wasn't such a useless divine. Oh, well, hopefully they won't release more than one chimera horse a month, I want to collect them but I only have an income of 10/11 passes per month and I burnt through all my diamonds now

I generally always get the divine/wild on the first TC. Figured out I have to do it fast cause if i hesitate it'll cut me. Although I never go past the 5th level and I dont bother with buying HOPS

Thanks, sorry read the title wrong
@Hayley2160 I am not good at math like I said, I also noticed it didn't add up to 100. I used a percentage calculator online and averaged them LOL

Every race I didn't pull that number, I put a 0 value. Does that make sense?

How did you get your numbers?

No yeah, it's fine I was just a bit confused. Thank you for providing the information. It was really helpful, and those of us that aren't able to test it out really appreciate it! (Sorry if I came off as rude, I definitely wasn't trying to be.)

I just took the probability of rolling a 3, 4, 5, or 6 during a race.

So for the minimum pull, there was 48 shots total. You scored 3 points seven times, 4 points seventeen times, 5 points eighteen times, and 6 points six times out of the 48 turns.

So to find the probability I just divided the number of times you scored each type of point by the total number. For example:

4 points: 17/48 = .3541*100 = 35.41%

And if that isn't how you find probability, let me know, I might have messed this whole thing up default smiley xd

Thanks again for providing all of this!

Now you'll see, the one time I wouldn't want to get the diamond gift card and rather a diamond puzzle card it's going to be the other way around.. default smiley xd
(I usually get some diamond puzzle cards, but usually just two that end up going in the last two puzzles. Which is rather useless if you haven't got the rest of the puzzle default smiley (o))

Alright people, I have the numbers. Thanks to the help of @Haley2160 default smiley :)

as many of you know, I'm focusing my tests on the slingshot. If you want more details, read back a little ways default smiley :)

Anyways, I've been recording every number I get for the last three days, hoping to see if there's any point to the slingshot aside from frustration. default smiley (lol)

Here is what I got, and analysis to follow:
Click to display

I did five races moving the slingshot the most minumum amount possible. Then I did five races pulling that baby back as far as I was allowed. I recorded the numbers... they are as follows:

4/26 Smallest:

Race 1: 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 5, 5, 3,
Race 2: 4, 3, 4, 5, 5, 5, 3, 5, 5, 4,
Race 3: 3, 5, 5, 4, 4, 6, 5, 6, 4
Race 4: 5, 6, 4, 5, 4, 5, 5, 4, 6
Race 5: 3, 5, 4, 6, 4, 5, 6, 5, 3

4/27

Race 1: 6, 5, 5, 3, 5, 6, 4, 4, 6,
Race 2: 5, 4, 3, 5, 5, 5, 6, 5
Race 3:4, 4, 6, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 4
Race 4: 4, 6, 4, 4, 5, 5, 4, 4, 5
Race 5: 6, 4, 5, 5, 6, 4, 5, 4, 4

4/28

Race 1: 4, 6, 4, 4, 3, 4, 4, 3, 4, 4 (this one was awful default smiley (lol) )
Race 2: 4, 3, 5, 6, 5, 4, 5, 4, 5
Race 3: 6, 5, 5, 6, 4, 5, 6, 4
Race 4: 4, 5, 3, 6, 4, 5, 5, 5, 3
Race 5: 4, 5, 4, 4, 3, 5, 6, 4, 5

And now Largest:

4/26

Race 1: 6, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 4, 4, 3
Race 2: 4, 3, 4, 5, 4, 5, 5, 3, 6, 5
Race 3: 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6
Race 4: 4, 6, 3, 3, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6
Race 5: 6, 5, 4, 5, 5, 5, 4, 3, 6

4/27

Race 1: 6, 6, 4, 5, 4, 4, 5, 4, 5
Race 2: 4, 3, 4, 5, 4, 5, 5, 3, 6, 5
Race 3: 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6
Race 4: 4, 6, 3, 3, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6
Race 5: 6, 5, 4, 5, 5, 5, 4, 3, 6

4/28

Race 1: 6, 5, 6, 4, 3, 4, 5, 5, 5
Race 2: 3, 5, 3, 3, 5, 6, 4, 3, 5, 5
Race 3: 4, 6, 3, 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4
Race 4: 5, 4, 5, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3, 4, 6
Race 5: 6, 6, 6, 5, 3, 6, 6 (this one frustrates me. I've never pulled this many before. I feel itll skew the data. Oh well though. )

So I collaborated with Haley to get a bit more correct math. default smiley xd Here is what she/we got:

Click to display
Minimum Pullback Average:
3 - 12.37%
4 - 37.27%
5 - 34.24%
6 - 16.10%

Maximum Pullback Average:
3 - 16.36%
4 - 36.61%
5 - 23.61%
6 - 23.39% (she also put the work into individual race averages. If we want that I can post. default smiley :)

So here is what I ultimately think:

Click to display
To be honest, I don't like that I got the idea to record so late in the Derby. I wish I had a sample size larger than 15 races each.

Looking at the data, getting 3 or 4 is going to happen about the same amount no matter what. But what we all care about is getting those big numbers to ensure first place right?

We can see that there's a 10.63% deviation between minimum and maximum for getting a 5
We also see that there's a 7.29% difference between min and max for getting a 6.

To me, that just really is not enough of a difference to say that one is better than the other. Which is exactly what I suspected. I have the feeling that If I were to record for longer, I would have a lot closer numbers.

But that's my interpretation. I plan on telling those on the testing server that I can't see how anyone would be happy with this particular change. But I want to know what you guys think of that data. Do you see enough of a difference to call it one way or the other?

Why couldn't the Chimeras be introduced as a new divine in a contest rather than the Titan's challenge where some player's don't have a chance of getting it?

Every player has an opportunity - each player can get 11 passes every month without paying actual money, so can choose to get those, and use them to open luck items and have a chance to win divines, with no money spent.
