Salvete omnes! I'm Maylett, and my goal in Howrse is to develop a breed of Roman war horses.

Roman horses were typically around 13 to 14 hands tall (most would be considered ponies by today's standards!), and their main use was for pulling chariots and hauling supplies. The breeds I will be using for this are the Purebred Spanish Horse, Arabian, Camargue, Vanner, Highland Pony, and Welsh Pony. The origins of these breeds can be traced back to the areas Rome occupied at the height of the empire, and the artifact and bone evidence we have available point to many of these breeds either interbreeding with the horses favored by the Romans, or even being directly descended from them.

This is going to be a long project, but my nerdy self is incredibly excited about it!
