About Me:

Hi! I'm moonbunny, and I've been on Howrse since 2012. I originally joined because another FTP game I was on was closing, and it was suggested that we all get accounts here to make up for it (typical ubi…). At first a few of us stayed on, but from what I can tell I'm now the last one. 

My first horse was a strawberry roan hackney mare named Lilly, who I still have to this day. Fun fact kids, this was so long ago that she, as a foundie, had 350 GP instead of the 3300k-ish that you can get these days. I know she's not very useful, but I still keep her (and my other foundies/low GPs) around anyways. She's the base of my hackney breeding line, which used to be the pride of my game. I was also into crossbreeding back in the day, and still enjoy it. One day I want to breed a horse that's equal parts of nearly every breed, but that goal has taken a back seat. Currently my main focus is on my kerry bogs, who are my pride and joy. I've even used my background as a crossbreeder to my advantage for them, adding in other breeds for boosts in certain skills. Mostly though, I love them because they all have theme-names, which are really fun to come up with.

As for some personal details, I'm an adult player currently at age 21. I'm in college perusing an  English degree, which is quite ironic because I'm an awful speller. My life goal is to become a published author one day, so I'm constantly writing and coming up with new ideas. Obviously I love reading too, and am especially fond of action/adventure and science fiction. My greatest love though is for adaptations--nothing gives me more joy than finding a good book that got turned into a movie (or a movie that got turned into a tv show) and analyzing how they've changed. You might say my adaptation "gods" are La Jetée and Digital Devil Story.

Seriously, do look up La Jetée and the members of its adaptation family. The recent TV adaptation is especially excellent in just about every way. The writing, acting, directing, even the lighting is impeccably beautiful. And as for DDS, in case you didn't know, those books are the inspiration for the Megami Tensei franchise of games, which are absolutely fabulous. The writing in almost all the games is superb, and I don't mean just by video game standards.

One thing I do feel more passionately about than my adaptation studies though is music. I was raised by a hard-core REO fan, so naturally I rebelled by becoming a shameless Styx fangirl. And yes, I do fully support Lawrence Gowan; talking smack about him is the easiest way to get on my bad side. As for other musicians I'm fond of, I'm also quite into Bob Seger, Night Ranger, Rush, Foreigner, and Billy Joel. Kind of an odd combo some of those are, I realize, but I like them all for different reasons. There is one other band I really should mention though, which I had never even heard of until 2015 (quite the fail; oh, the wasted years...). As I've mentioned, I'm a hard-core Styx fan, and ergo make sure to see them at least once a year. In 2015, they were touring with one other major band (who I have since considered to not even be worth mentioning), and were set to have Tesla opening for them. I kinda shrugged them off for being openers at first, but oh my god they're amazing performers! Best live act I've ever seen, if I'm being honest. So yes, they have a special place in my heart as well. 

My other interests include horseback riding (obviously), studying/translating things into ASL, watching archeology documentaries, sewing, corsetry, colorizing antique photos (especially Edwardian photos), and drawing. Honestly though, the only thing I'm really all that good at sketching out are plants... Not that that stops me from being a hobbyist cartoonist though. My main comic strip is The Adventures of Sploch the Cat, which follows the less-than-brilliant male calico cat Sploch and his friends as they journey through romance, action, 4th wall breaks, and hijinks of all sorts.

Ever notice anything weird about my kerry bog line?

I name them all after songs and/or albums, since their affix/line name (Kerry Me Home) is a music pun. Of what you ask? It is in reference to the DRB album/title track Carry Me Home. Uh huh. That's right. When I said Tesla held a "special place in my heart" I meant REALLY special--special enough to go poking around obscure solo careers. Anyway, I love puns and I love music, so that was the first thing to come to mind. 

The whole thing is just very special to me--and that's why I am a bit hurt that some other user (at least one) decided to use my affix/line name as a name for a kerry they have. I know they don't know the significance of it for me or probably even get the reference--there aren't many people out there who realize Dave Rude has a solo career, let alone know his work well enough to get the reference--and that they just thought it was a good pun (I would even argue a GREAT pun)… so I don't hold a lot of resentment there. Puns are awesome. Anyone that says other wise is kidding themselves. I have to admit, I adore the person in question just because they can appreciate puns, even if this one is a tad personal for me.

Anyways, emotional tangents aside, my kerry babies aren't the only ones with song/album title names. The one and only kerry I've ever bought, Mysteries and Mayhem, is named after the Kansas song of the same name (as a nod to her affix/line). A good chunk of my other non-kerrys are also named in the same vein. The others are Soul Survivor (which isn't a typo--at least, not on my part anyway); Moonlight Desires, and her children Great Dirty World, Forever One, and Dedication; Seven Wishes; Still of the Night; Rise and Fall, Edison's Medicine, and Forever More (who were bought in rapid succession, hence matchy-matchy names); Afterlife (which is the title of another DRB song--my favorite, in fact); Love in the Midnight; (Don't Fear), which was in reference to the full title of (Don't Fear) The Reaper; Angel; Wildflowers; Clockwork Angels; and, lastly, Imagine.
