Blup is a genetic term. It stands for Best Linear Unbiased Prediction. It is not necessary to understand what that means.

A foal is born with -100 blup and, as an adult horse, will produce its best possible foals when it is at 100 blup. Blup contributes to the genetics and, importantly, to the inborn skills of your foal.

A horse gets to 100 blup when:

* it is at least 10 years old

* it has finished in 1st place in 20 competitions, and

* it is bolded (all skills gained from training, mountain rides, forest rides, and competitions) in its 3 highest genetic skills.

If you get your horse to 10 years old and have bolded its top 3 genetic skills, but it has zero wins, then it will be at 70 blup. Getting the 20 wins contributes the final 30 blup.
