Is there any way to get a unicorn other than breeding or buying one?

On rare occasions they are offered as a prize during an event, usually when a new uni breed is being introduced. Otherwise, you have to buy and breed them.
In addition to the other answer, on occasion there are pass offers that you can buy and get a unicorn. Also there is the Divine horse Kaktos who will give you a unicorn foal once he reaches enough skills points, if you own him.
