How do I set up automated horse purchases as a VIP? I have activated the perk on my subscription but am not sure how to set it up now?

do an exact search in the direct sales. then there will be a way to save the search I don't remember exactly what it says. and you can label the sale. you will then need to activate it. you can set how many you want to buy but the max is 100. you can keep updating the 100 as horses are bought.

In the horse sales tab you'll see golden label dedicated for VIP. Upon clicking new page will pop-up with all the sales you have active and number of horses to be bought. In order to add successfully the sale you'll need to perform a search (e.g. Breed: Divine, Price: <100 Passes) it will probably yield nothing. However once you have this feature & search activated it will buy horses that match your search automatically within 30 seconds(If not bought by another player within 30 seconds). You may apply and change them as you wish. Remember to always double check everything before the changes are applied. Usually I would recommend to test the feature and use only 1 horse to be bought.
