A "filler" can be a horse of any genetic potential and skills. When you BLUP a horse and want to get 20 wins, the best and fastest way to do is to put it in competitions with "fillers" - horses that you KNOW are NOT better than the horse you are BLUPing and will definitely loose against it. They simply "fill in" the open positions in the race so that better horses than the one you are BLUPing do not enter it and outbeat you. You can put 1 filler into the same competition as your horse; your friends and teammates can put other fillers in that competition as well. The fillers give you guarantee that the BLUPed horse will win the race, thus providing you the 20 wins faster.



A smart thing to do when you actively breed and BLUP horses is to take care of some fillers as well, in order to help yourself in getting faster BLUPs.
