Dumb ways to fall off a horse
My cousin and I were being dumb teens and riding my mare together bareback, she got spooked and jumped forward enough to knock us off. I broke our fall with my shoulder, but we hit the ground hard enough that my boot ended up cracking my cousins rib! Safe to say, we got in more then a little in trouble for it ^^; Sounds like something my mare would do ![]()

One time i was on a hill my (very plump) Haflinger decided food was way more fun then behaving he shot his head down and started eating but him being on a hill and me being bareback and not paying attention i slid all the way down his neck and fell on my face. so oops!

One time the horse ( I ride her in a hackamore) saw a nice little patch of grass, and decide to trot over. I didn't fall off, though.

So in my early lessons we worked without stirrups in a trot and I started losing my seat. I yelled whoa to the horse who slowed it's trot, but the instructor didn't see that I was slipping yelled for me to keep going. So I tried regaining position but just seemed like I was just falling in slow motion. Apparently, it really was me falling in slow motion! The horse transitioned to walk and stop delivering me softly to the ground. The instructor laughed that it was themost graceful fall she ever saw and the horse looked at me puzzled wondering why I wanted to be laying on the ground.

One time when I was riding a horse camp pony and, I nearly went flying over his shoulder all because a moved to the fence and it wanted to say hello

I was taking horse riding lessons and was learning to trot, my horse decided she wanted to canter, I didn’t ask her too. We were going round a corner and I thought if I tell her to stop now either she will stop and I won’t or she won’t stop at all so i let her go around the corner and because I wasn’t gripping hard enough with my legs I slid out of the saddle and fell off. Then she stopped as soon as I fell of and she looked at me and was like why are you on the ground?. This was the first time I fell off a horse, unless you count the time I was mounting a 17h horse and the owner didn’t have a mounting block (I’m not very tall) so I used a chair and the chair wasn’t very stable, it was a plastic chair and as soon as I put my foot in the stirrup the chair gave way, I ended up on the ground next to a very confused horse.

I was riding one of the horses at the riding school and It made a weird move. I fell off but it looked like I just dismounted him

I was riding a horse I'd already had a really bad fall off of during a clinic and I jumped a gate, horse went right and I went left. I then fell off the horse, whacking my leg on the fence of the arena and did a flip into a mud puddle.

My sister did the classic rookie mistake of not double checking the girth before getting on. She slid off with the saddle! I luckily caught it all on camera.

Riding bareback in shorts with just a halter and lead rope, done this a hundred times but my barrel racing horse cut it a little too close to a tree at a fast lope and my knee hit the tree. Cracked cartilage that will never heal and I remember every time I trip and hit it

the mare I was riding (she was a pony) was trotting around I lost my stirrup and was sliding down the side hanging onto poor bailieys neck. I finally fell off. Bailey was a saint.
|
I was saddling up on my mare a while back, as I swung my leg over into the saddle I used too much force. I pretty much launched myself across her back and landed in the dirt.

At a Girl Scout camp a few years back, we got to work all day with an assigned horse and at the end of the day we got to do a "show" for family members and other people who were there. I had the sassiest horse I've ever met and at the end of the "show" there was a strip that we could either walk or trot on. i wanted to just walk and enjoy it, but Suzie (my horse) saw her best friend who had gotten loose just outside of the arena and went full gallop towards her and stopped suddenly at the fence. i was almost thrown over but stayed on. according to the crowd my arm that was at my side (western riding) was flopping in the air. And that is how i earned my Girl scout nickname Rodeo.

My first horse was a Gaited pony named Lilly. Lilly was such a good pony that my mom took me on trail rides with me on her when I was 3 years old, she’d wait for me to fall asleep on Lilly and then she’d put me on the front of her saddle and pony Lilly the rest of the way. She was the gentlest horse I’ve ever met. Anyway, at about 6 years old my sisters and I took our horses out at a camp and were running them through a short trail in the camp grounds. Lilly decided she was sick of us being reckless children and took a dead stop about 6 feet in front of a fallen log. Launched me straight over her head and face first into the log

I was incredibly overmounted and barely knew how to sit the canter. My horse BARELY extended his stride and I fell right off his back.
This one was more recent, and I'm not proud ![]() ![]()

Urged him into a run and couldn't stop. It was a total accident because I had no idea what kinda horse he was and tbh he was above my skill level. Turned out he was touchy lol!

I was riding this mare named Cocoa who was always very moody and grumpy, and we were cantering on the lunge line when she started doing tiny little bucks repeatedly, unsettling me a bit more each time, until she got impatient and decided to go big and off I went! I went sliding down her neck and I would have landed on my face if I hadn't wrapped my arms around her neck and landed on my rear instead

So, there was one day my older sister came over to our house to ride with me and my other sister. (I have lots of siblings lol) Our horses don't do very much work, so they are very... RoUnD. So anyways, we were all riding bareback in our small pasture, and the horse my sister was on saw some food and started to trot towards it. Now if you've never ridden a fat (sorry, RoUnD) horse bareback, its hard! when they're trotting, harder! if their head is down, even harder! And if you hadn't ridden in over a year and a half like my sister, you are basically doomed. But surprisingly enough, she didn't fall. Not exactly. She started to slide down his neck, so she threw one leg over his neck and landed on her knees. Still to this day we call it her 'graceful dismount'
