Real my tip:
when using Reference images you have to remember something else
for example, must be done
head, neck and legs in real positions...
or completely changing the angle or pose to another model ... and the color from the second and the species from the third picture.
Try and combine...

You don't learn the basic anatomy of a horse if you don't use model pictures when you learn it. Or
yes, all lovers of realistic art use reference pictures at some point, but they can be removed when the eye develops..

But because it's not just about skill
you make game graphics,
you always have to add something completely self-invented to the drawing. to combine different images and even better if there is no model for the idea but you draw your imagination...
And besides that, your idea has to work as part of the games....
that is, you have to watch other games with a side eye as well...

All of us are beer, sometimes those beginning thinkers who make mistakes.
And it hurts when you've gone to the trouble when the drawing doesn't work...
But try again...
and be more creative next time you draw...

Yes exactly! This is such great advice. It is clear that you didn't submit the work with bad intentions and I'm glad you came here to verify. You are clearly a talented artist so don't give up on resubmitting your work In the end it is just another lesson learned and all those hours you invested into this piece will pay off in your next drawing even more so

I just submitted a batch of entries for March! This is only the second or third time I've submitted anything but I'm hoping something goes through. I'm especially proud of the knight one; I looked at a LOT of different references to see what horse armor looked like and then I freehanded armor onto my horse lines that fused all the different elements that I liked from my different references

It's always hard to tell how much of a "chance" my submissions have because I feel like the winning submissions always cover a wide range of quality, theme, and art style, but I think these definitely appeal to someone at least

This one I'm working on, what does everyone think? I have to redo the hooves since I just realized none of them are the same size and a couple look more like pancakes than hooves... I'm also having trouble getting the edges to not look pixely, does anyone know how to remedy this?

Sorry but what program or software did you used to create this one ? Looks like an AI, it would explain why the hooves looks like that, moreover, everything look strange, for example the position of the eyes, the horn, ears, like what happened to his face you know, AI is not allowed on howrse. You have to create your horse by yourself at 100% even if you are making mistakes, peoples are here to help
If you want, you can use this "creation", and redraw a correct line with the same position, and use the colors of it, but only use it as a reference, cause it clearly looks like an AI and peoples will report it during the vote session.

I'm thinking exactly the same as LadyAurelie. This art looks like AI created. And I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but there is some things on this image that I can't identify, like, what is that pink-yellow-gray thing on the mane? Or the gray spot on the horse's cheek?

Hey LadyAurelie, thanks for the info on AI. I'm using Pixlr E on my phone, it's not the best for digital painting but it works. I feel I should explain my side though.
To be fair it is AI in part, but I've done a lot of work on it to make it my own. The ears, horn, etc. look 'that way' because I still suck at doing things online, (As opposed to pencil and paper) I drew them completely myself. I suppose I could just use the outline, but a good portion of it is my own work. Part of the AI look was on purpose. I do a lot of AI and have grown to like the unrealistically creative nature of it. I still have more to do but by the time I'm done I will have used little more of the original than colors and general theme.
I do have a couple more questions though. If it does get reported, will I get a chance to explain my work? I've read all the rules and even sent a ticket in concerning this topic. I still don't think I will have broken any rules by the time I'm done with it.
Also, how is it considered 100% my work if I were to use the original outline and colors?
I really hope this doesn't sound snippy or rude. I'm not the best at explaining myself, and I really am interested in getting better.

Can you post a side by side of the original AI you worked on compared to this one you posted? I find this really interesting as that art piece looks very unlike anything I have seen before. I think the anatomy is what is holding it back, what was your inspiration for the ornaments on the body?
