Finally a post just for us cross breeders. The purpose of this topic is for cross breeders to have a place to discuss their crossbreeding programs and to share crossbreeding secrets and advice with others who may be interested in giving crossbreeding a try. Feel free to talk about your crossbreeding programs and your achievements and failures in crossbreeding.
Please remember to follow the rules of the forum and be informative and helpful. default smiley :-))

Reminder to all.

Please do not advertise sales or items wanted in this topic. I can turn a blind eye to the covers being offered (as long as they are not blatant advertisements) because we are, after all, trying to help each other progress and there is no filter on public covers for searching for crosses, but items sales and items wanted do not belong in any of the public forums and we have a sales forum for horse sales so please, lets keep our topic clean of the ads.

Thanks everyone

There are reasons for rules and everyone is expected to follow them. There will be no posting of advertisements in this topic and everyone is expected to be respectful. Any disrespect towards fellow players or moderators will not be tolerated. Anyone posting advertisements will receive a forum ban without prior warning. If breaking of rules continues to take place in this topic I will delete it.

Thank you
zepharo

If anyone has personal issues with another player, or needs something back from another player(items/passes), other than covers/fills-please take it to private pms...anymore posting here will mean an instant forum ban without a warning.

Edit by pixiesbite

A reminder that this is not the place for trading/buying/selling BMI, horses or advertising or asking for someone to train your horse.
If any of these things occur, you will be forum banned without prior warning.

I bred a couple more Nokota's for the trail prix today. One of my Kota breeding partners decided to skill one alongside me~ We're hoping they make it in the top 20 this week. Here's Souenvalke. I missed two lessons, but oh well. XD *crosses fingers* Here's hoping.

Hey Eimell. I bred a cute 87* Nokota yesterday from a 50/50 Fry/TB. Unfortunately, I have nothing to skill him with which puts a damper on things.
shiannes, when are we working on that #1 psh to-be? This weekend?

Interesting cross Shiannes~!
Are you going for anything comp wise?
By Retired breeder, 22nd March 2012 21:03:56
It is really hard to find good Anglo Arabian coverings. Could you please PM me if you have a 2100+ skiller Anglo Arabian stallion I could either buy or get covers from.
By Retired breeder, 22nd March 2012 21:13:46
andy- skills don't really matter, GP does. default smiley ;)

Im skilling my 25 TB/25 Fri/Nokota foal now.....
By Retired breeder, 22nd March 2012 21:19:03
Sled- Skills totally matter. default smiley :) GP if anything can be a bit redundant. The GP is raised mostly by the purebreeders. They in turn do most of the work that provides you with good GP. default smiley ;) But a great cross is made depending on where the skill ratio's are set. You can still win comps with low GP horses if the skill set is correct.

I'm blupping a Gypsy Vanner/ Friesian to test out a cross. I'm going to need to bolt it when it's done, but if anyone wants coverings from it, I'll have it blupped in about 20 minutes to half an hour. He's here~
Eimell; the amount of skills doesn't matter, only the GP of the skills and if the appropriate 3 are bolded for BLUP. Like my 2148 skilled Trake is no better GP-breeding wise than my friend's 1960 bolded one. The GP of the foals won't have any extreme difference.

Ah, I read that wrong. default smiley xd
Sled would be correct~
Skills don't matter for crossing.
As for blup, if you're purely going for GP and not inborn, you can get away with as low as breeding at 70 blup without affecting the GP gain.

I just say skills because horses with that kind of skills usually have good GP. Would anyone have a good GP thoroughbred/ Arabian stallion offering coverings. Or even better for sale.
andybutler; I can't think of anyone who has...someone might have done one as a breeder, but I can't say for sure, or what the GP would be.

It won't have a great GP compared to others as arab coverings/sales are pretty awful at the moment

Vanner/Friesian cross is now 100 blup, 1466.3 GP. He'll be bolted shortly after the Kota/Lusi blup I'm working on is finished. He's available until then if anyone needs it.
By Retired breeder, 22nd March 2012 22:10:04
Here's my newest cross totally bolded/bluped:
http://www.howrse.com/elevage/fiche/?id=23714871

Quite pleased with how she turned out and the way it looks, she should do pretty decent in Western Pleasure, Reining and maybe Trail Class.

I'm also thinking about breeding her... ideas as to what breeds or cross? I'd love for the Nokota to stay the dom. breed.
By Retired breeder, 22nd March 2012 22:21:12
Notbob, I think so. We need to try and get wins on him at the moment.

Eimell, I cant do much at the moment because I have nothing to train with.
