[New] Devs' Corner: February 18th, 2020
It looks like we're getting a partial list of bug fixes instead of a complete list of changes, so things like the UFO confetti are going to sneak in and out unnamed.
If you're not going to include all the little changes being made, why bother?
I like the idea of being updated on changes, I just wish the updates were mind-numbingly thorough. Maybe it'll get better.
Foundation horses are actually still sellable, with one exception. The two oldest foundation horses on a player's account that were produced by them are considered their 'starter horses', regardless of whether or not they actually are. Those two foundations then become unsellable because players aren't supposed to be able to sell their starters. Before the 'no selling starters' change was enacted, players would make new accounts, sell the starters to their main account, and do the whole process all over again.
I understand trying to stop people from passing starters to their main account, and I heard at one point it was also because many players who sold their first horse wanted it back later.
When I first heard about the change, I assumed it meant all new/recent accounts can't sell their starters, which would take care of both problems in most cases. Nope. Arizona and Nevada are now my unsellable foundations. I laugh to see that Howrse is marking as my starter horses a pair of horses born over *four years* after I started.
I'm glad they fixed the moderator report button! Someone brought it up semi-recently in the VIP forum and I'm happy to see they paid attention and changed it
On another note, I find the minor formatting change in the "talented breeder" trophy section mildly disorienting, even though it's now more consistent with the rest of the trophies.
If you guys cant see the new trophies, try this:
*clean cache and cookies, close browser, and start it again
* do a hard reset ( CTRL+ F5) or hold down CTRL and click on the refresh-icon
(note: You may have to check the proper shortcuts/actions for your browser, I use Chrome )
Can happen that its just the browser that hasn't caught up with the new stuff yet
Yo Devs, please change the PM setting for recieving a golden horseshoe. Seeing a red dot on my mailbox just because I got another horseshoe is really annoying.
Unless there's a way to disable it. If so, then can someone please tell me how? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for all your hard work!
I love the new Chimera horses; how do I find out who the artist is? I'd like to follow them on social media.
It would actually be so awesome if the artists behind all the Howrse art had their social medias or names attached to their work. Because some of the divines look fantastic and I'd love to find out who was behind them. Perhaps when you go to the horse's page on Ow's account there's a section giving credit to the artists?
Yo Devs, I have an idea.
When a player is outbid in the auctions, the only notification that they receive can be found in their office. This isn't a very noticeable notification, so unless you go back to the auctions/office to check your bid, you are going to miss the sale.
This is even worse during the flash sales because there's no office notification for the auctions, so you need to stay on the same page and refresh the auctions repeatedly or you need to watch your equus reserve to check if you've been outbid.
My suggestion is to add an auction icon to the top of every page (perhaps next to your equus reserve or under your mailbox?). Then if a player gets outbid in an auction, the red dot can appear on the auction icon. If the horse/item that was being auctioned gets sold, the dot should disappear because it's pointless to notify a player about a sale that they missed.
Or the icon can be a temporary auction icon that will disappear when the player has not participated in an auction and reappear when the player is participating in one.
I can make a further suggestion to ask that, if you do do something like the above, you make the dot different colours to tell the player how much time is left until the auction ends. For example, a green dot can be for a sale that has 10+ mins before it ends, an orange dot for 2-10mins before, and a red dot for 0secs-2mins before the auction ends.
Of course, this is just a suggestion. Please consider it. Thank you for reading this
