New: Divine Dust!

Divine Dust

As conveyed several times, we have added an additional way to get divine horses that are offered through special marketing offers, if you’re very unlucky. Divine dust are in luck items promotions, and each type of luck item has its own divine dust.

When you open a luck-based item and don’t find the highlighted divine on offer, you get the divine dust instead! Divine dust accumulates within a gauge that you can see directly from each of the luck items’ description pages. When the meter is full, you win the divine!

If you have not filled it before the offer ends, the dust earned disappears and cannot be used for another one (the meter will start empty when a new divine is offered). Additionally, once you have won the divine (via luck or the divine dust) there isn’t anymore dust left to find in the luck item.

Starting today and through this weekend, you can find the Celtic divine Cernunnos hiding in the Golden Fleece; including the Golden Fleece divine dust.

The Howrse Team

I am just about DONE with the luck-based items. First they changed it from directly winning the divine IF were lucky, to dust that would accumulate (indefinately, they led us to believe). Now it's a pitiful amount of dust (average =6) and now they say NOPE, if you had 30 or 120 or 700, it's now GONE, nice Howrse, really nice default smiley (m) default smiley (li) default smiley (6)

I just want to point out that nothing has changed in that regard as you can still get the rest of the dust in a few tries, so the dust is a back up more than anything.

I was curious just how many it would take, and given that Indigo is one of the few divines needed to complete my collections, I was going to go for it regardless. Here's the breakdown:

144 HoPs opened, not including the ones I got for free, before I reached the full amount of dust to get Indigo. That's averaging about 7 dust per HoP. 14,400 passes. Just under the amount of passes I could get for $150.

So if we take into account the Christmas specials, which usually offer //several// divines for the $150 or $200 pack or whatever it is, I just bought Indigo, a single divine, for the same amount.
Sorry, but that's unacceptable. Howrse needs to fix its ratio here. They claim it's working as it should be, but that's a complete ripoff.

I would say it was just bad luck, too, because of course you can get the remaining fragments at any point. But, reading through several of your other posts, this "bad luck" seems to be the general consensus among the majority.

And for those wondering, yes, in the past the average HoPs opened before you got the divine was usually around 20-30 before they changed the system. Even the previous luck promos had better odds for horses that offered more reward. Something's not right here.

The fragments were introduced as a safety net, to stop people paying outrageous amounts. Well they aren't working for that. Personally I'd say they haven't been working that way for me ever. They've always been set at outrageous amounts, and this is just the final straw.

Seems they are actually working more like a bad hire purchase deal in many cases. Put in an 'installment' now, another later (in a couple of years maybe!) and in the end you'll pay a lot more than you would have done up front.

And of course, it's really hire and not purchase: if this game eventually ends all the divines and fancy coats will disappear with it, and never mind who's spent how much in time and real life money.

5 points? That's laughable. Compared to the +50 you could get before, that's...ugh. Is the chance to just get a divine based on luck (like it should be) completely removed too? So that you HAVE to collect dust to claim the divine?? I wish I didn't waste a HoP on this.

No it's not, you can absolutely still get it in HoPs without needing to fill the meter.
However, it sounds like it's a pitiful chance, which combined with the low amount of fragments it makes it unbelievably hard to get the Divine.

I only opened 1 HOP from my objectives. I won 6 fragments. I don't need Indigo as I already have him. I am glad that I won the Rainbows when I did. Because this? This is insane. Not to sound rude, but I honestly don't know how howrse would even need feedback on this. It should have been an obvious "DON'T" in my opinion. But whatever. Here is my feedback. Do not do this again!default smiley (lol)

The odds of reaching level 5 in the TC when I won the Rainbows was way higher than this. And that was before they introduced divine fragments!default smiley xd Why are just the overall odds of winning the divine by luck so low? OK, maybe lower the fragments I guess. But why lower fragments and luck? I am not seeing any logic in this.

What the flip is going on?!?
20 HOPs opened and I've got...
... Drum roll, please...
110 fragments for Devoted Indigo.
I've never known such a ridiculously low return on fragments.
On the bright side, I have, of course, won gifts with every HOP opened. The most valuable so far is a Pluto's Parchment.

@Nalu93 oh well that's a relief.
Though I wouldn't be surprised if one day they decided to take away even that. Eh I guess I can say goodbye to my little dream of getting all Chinese divines.

I didn't try for Devoted Indigo because I already have it, but I did get my 7th day objectives done and opened a free horn of plenty from that yesterday or the day before... and I got 4 of 1000 fragments.

That means I'd need 250 horns of plenty to win Devoted Indigo if I were going to try to do it. That's ridiculous...

Back when free passes were more easily attainable and 1 pass was one pass instead of all this trickery where 100 passes are one pass... I think my most expensive divine was 50 or 60 passes - and that was when I was at my most unlucky.

It would cost me more than four times that to get Devoted Indigo. Makes me want to just stop playing, honestly. The whole point of my game is to find ways to win or earn passes and win divines with those passes. If I need 25,000 passes just to get one divine, this just isn't going to be feasible for me. There's no point in playing. The prizes are not attainable without actual years of time put in, or thousands of real dollars just for one of very many desired prizes... Not the kind of game I'm into.

See the thing is, every promo people complain about how much divines cost and every promo, the same people, in the same post even, mention shelling out money for thousands of passes. People threaten to boycott and shake their fist, but they still pay. You need to follow through with your I-wont-buy-anymore passes threat or you cant be surprised when things don't change. Ultimately Howrse is a business and businesses need to make money. Can't expect them to lower the price if people are willing to pay it, repeatedly.

From 2000 passes and 4 inventory HOP'S I only got 157 dust for Indigo.

That is a shockingly high price for a horse that will only give you around 510 passes a year.

Is there no way to participate if you don't have passes???

I just joined, the last time I played Howrse was in 2012 when we had "credits" instead of passes, sadly I lost the account.
But still, is there any way to participate if you don't have passes?

If not, then sorry, but that's a very ugly move towards players who can't just spend hundreds on imaginary currency.

I want to play this game daily as a way to relax and enjoy my stay, but all these constant promotions and perks make it seem like it is a Pay to Win game. Very unnatractive.

Just got Friggja! I had to fill the meter, couldn't get past level 5, but with the 4x multiplier from the Great Challenge, I only ended up using 18 TCs (several from inventory), which seems relatively reasonable since she gives a Hestia's Gift. The lowest divine dust I got was 30, the highest was 54 (again with the 4x multiplier).

The item the divine can be found in is the Titan's Challenge, which is an item that can be traded for in the item exchange, can be won from events as prizes, won by certain divines if you own that divine and can also be traded for if you have a Themis Scale (also won from events or by divines that offer it to their owner). It is possible to get divines from luck items without spending passes, but you usually have to save up awhile to get the amount you need, unless you're lucky and win the divine within a few tries. And once you reach 15 days seniority, it will be possible to earn up to 30 passes per day from the objectives instead of equus.

To those who have more experience on Titan's Challenges than I do:

If you opt to take your prizes before reaching the target level during a divine promo, do you ALSO get the consolation prize divine fragments?

For example, on my most recent TC, I went bust on level 5 and got bell boots, some aging points, some equus, and a total of 68 fragments for Friggja. If I had decided to take my winnings from level 4 (a Hera's Pack as I recall), would I have gotten the fragments? If yes, would it have been a similar amount?

Thank you.

It took me 13 Titan challenges to get friggja. I receive 300 free fragments from the derby. Won a Titan challenge on last one but saving that.i just try to stop at first good prize.

You can still get the divine dust even if you do claim your gifts early, as far as I remember.

Yes and yes to both.
The number of fragments isn't influenced by the level you "bust" or "retire", and if you decide to play it safe you still get fragments. default smiley :)

Did anyone figure how many passes would Pearl cost if you're out of luck? Also, how often does it actually give out passes?
