Important: Springtime Rules Recap

Spring Cleaning time!

Hello Everyone,

We noticed that on several versions, some forms of cheating have been tolerated. Though sometimes historically, other times due to information errors, or simply because it’s easier to let things pass than to tackle a difficult situation.

However, in the long run, everyone is penalized by this situation. It's unfair, unpractical and no one really knows where the boundaries are.

So, we have decided to do a global recap for all the versions to set things straight and make sure that the rules are consistent across all the versions of Howrse.

We are also planning to do a general cleanup on all the versions, thus it's an occasion to give everyone fair warning about what isn’t allowed before we start that as shown via the list below.

Selling passes to another player

Buying passes from another player

Farming passes via numerous accounts (A.k.a. multiple-accounting). Using the free pass features to collect passes on through extra accounts to transfer them to your main later. (I.E. the passes from sending dead horses to Heaven)

Paying another player with passes or game items to play/do chores in your stead

Bulk sales of old horses against passes (For example: Selling 10 horses for a single pass or any other similar aspect). The allowances planned in the game are calculated to preserve game balance, they are not transferable to another player.

Having more than one account on the same version

Having a common pivot account for teams, its multiple-accounting.

A fake account is used to store and transfer good, currencies and horses among members within a team bypassing game re-sale rules.

Connecting to another player's account outside of the co-management feature

Using a script on your account, regardless of who activated said script.

Yes, you are responsible for choosing co-managers you can trust and who share your ethics

Selling an account to another player either for game currency or actual currency

Selling Black market items

There’s a limit as the number of exchanges and gifts you can do, and it’s for a very excellent reason. This includes selling them for passes or real currencies, both transactions are forbidden.

As for tabbing, add-ons and gaming mouses (link clump, etc...), they are not forbidden per se, but should you ever decide to use these methods, do be careful and stay within reason. If your account seems to be overdoing it and we consider that you are taking an unfair advantage over your peers, due to an automation, it will be equal to scripting.

Therefore, starting the 10th of April, 2018, we will proceed with a spring cleaning on all the versions.

Best Regards,

The Howrse Team

Is there a specific way to detect if people are siblings? When my brother first signed up I thought we'd get done in for "multi-accounting" due to having the same IP address. default smiley xd

' Using a script on your account, regardless of who activated said script.

This just seems super unfair. If you're being told someone doesn't use a script and you have proof i think that you should be safe and that the co managers account should be punished.

Thats like my friend robbing someone but me getting the blame because i know her. Can you consider rethinking this rule so that the actual rule breaker gets banned and not the unknowing victim? Surely you can tell what player is using the script if you can now find them.

So someone decided to gift for example 3x nyx packs because they feel generous that day is that classes as trafficking.

Or buying normal horses in durect sale for passes when theyre well not worth it put down as trafficking?
Some players who have been on the game for a long time tend to give out as being nice. And not wanting aything from them? x

I was worried for my sister signing up on howrse again for this very reason. I have contacted mods and the gaming form before her signing up, and everyone said that it was fine as long as the accounts don't interact. Now, I'm not so sure.

I sent a ticket in to Contact Us and was told in no uncertain terms that LinkClump is considered cheating and will get a player banned for using it. When I asked about using multiple tabs, pillOw said that that was OK...

Now, yet again, Howrse (and Ubisoft by extension) is contradicting themselves by saying "As for tabbing add-ons and gaming mouses (link clump, etc...) they are not forbidden per se, but..." HOW is a player supposed to know what is allowed and what isn't if the company can't even make up their mind?!? This has to be the most unprofessional organization in that they refuse to listen to their players, they are constantly saying one thing and doing another, and making this game hard to play unless someone buys hundreds of passes.
Then again, the spring cleaning seems to be mainly about passes, so household members should be good, right?

I should have done that, hah, as my brother and I trade items and gift things all the time! Guess that means we just can't do that anymore. default smiley (o)

This would be about using the macro functions of a gaming mouse, not just using a gaming mouse as a regular mouse.

These gaming mice (I have one myself) can automate button clicks. Automation is a no-no. But just using your gaming mouse to click normally is not an issue.

Come on Howrse I got a gaming mouse years back for my birthday because I love then I am a huge gamer, what is so wrong with them and what is so wrong with having mutiple tabs open? It is not cheating it is just clicking right mouse button to open more pages which everyone can do it is not cheating or hackig everyone can do it! Please re think about some of these rules! Plus how is it the account owners fault if people on co management use script you should punish them instead. People on co management could for some reason be fake friemds or something and secretly hate the person and purposely want to get them in huge trouble. Also qhat if people pay you for farming out of their own decision because they think you did a good job its thier choice and not cheating since they are paying them for work they did what they can't do themselves.
Please explain!

Saw this coming already. They had posted this in the US server on March 14th but then deleted it for what ever reason.

We don't ever give out information about how we detect things like this, but we have quite a few things that we look at.

The bottom line is that if you stay out of your sibling's account and follow the rules, you will be fine.

When I was younger and first started playing howrse I ended up creating multiple accounts because I always forgot the passwords but I haven't used them in years and this is the only account I use. The old accounts also have emails that no longer exist. Will I be penalised for mistakes I made when I was much younger?

Accounts that are inactive for 180 days are automatically deleted. If you have not logged into them in years, they are likely gone and you don't have to worry about them.

How is it even possible to buy/sell passes from/to other players? I thought you could only get passes by purchasing them, selling horses for them, or earning them from the loyalty program and Croesus?

Alright, thanks for responding Zowey -- I just have one last question.
Considering my brother is younger than me and doesn't have his own money, am I allowed to use my own paypal to buy him passes through his own account? Obviously I wouldn't be allowed to have any of these passes, as it's his account.

Wait so if someone helps me out with my account every so often when i am out of town, and I decide to send them gifts every now and then because they are my friend, it would be considered trafficking? How will the system know that I am not "paying" them to help out my account when I am out of town? Since I entrust my comanagement feature to friends, not strangers, so that means I cant send gifts to that person anymore?

Selling Black Market Items? Does that count if we use the item exchange? For example, if someone sold a Fertility Wand for 200k, would that be breaking the rules?

If the process requires you to assume control of his account, then no. If you have to log into someone's account, no. Child accounts can be connected to adult accounts so the adult accounts can purchase passes for them.

Use contact us and we can explain it in more detail. default smiley :)

As long as they're selling it between 500e to 300,000e with no extra cost, ie passes or extra equus, it's fine.

Using the in-game tools as we offer them is not against the rules. Any exchanges you make using that tool automatically follow our rules, you don't have a choice.

If you're adding additional terms to an exchange though, like saying I'll gift you an item as well as what I'm giving you in this exchange... then that's against the rules.
