Important: Springtime Rules Recap

Spring Cleaning time!

Hello Everyone,

We noticed that on several versions, some forms of cheating have been tolerated. Though sometimes historically, other times due to information errors, or simply because it’s easier to let things pass than to tackle a difficult situation.

However, in the long run, everyone is penalized by this situation. It's unfair, unpractical and no one really knows where the boundaries are.

So, we have decided to do a global recap for all the versions to set things straight and make sure that the rules are consistent across all the versions of Howrse.

We are also planning to do a general cleanup on all the versions, thus it's an occasion to give everyone fair warning about what isn’t allowed before we start that as shown via the list below.

Selling passes to another player

Buying passes from another player

Farming passes via numerous accounts (A.k.a. multiple-accounting). Using the free pass features to collect passes on through extra accounts to transfer them to your main later. (I.E. the passes from sending dead horses to Heaven)

Paying another player with passes or game items to play/do chores in your stead

Bulk sales of old horses against passes (For example: Selling 10 horses for a single pass or any other similar aspect). The allowances planned in the game are calculated to preserve game balance, they are not transferable to another player.

Having more than one account on the same version

Having a common pivot account for teams, its multiple-accounting.

A fake account is used to store and transfer good, currencies and horses among members within a team bypassing game re-sale rules.

Connecting to another player's account outside of the co-management feature

Using a script on your account, regardless of who activated said script.

Yes, you are responsible for choosing co-managers you can trust and who share your ethics

Selling an account to another player either for game currency or actual currency

Selling Black market items

There’s a limit as the number of exchanges and gifts you can do, and it’s for a very excellent reason. This includes selling them for passes or real currencies, both transactions are forbidden.

As for tabbing, add-ons and gaming mouses (link clump, etc...), they are not forbidden per se, but should you ever decide to use these methods, do be careful and stay within reason. If your account seems to be overdoing it and we consider that you are taking an unfair advantage over your peers, due to an automation, it will be equal to scripting.

Therefore, starting the 10th of April, 2018, we will proceed with a spring cleaning on all the versions.

Best Regards,

The Howrse Team

I don't know where to post this so my apologies. While you are spring cleaning, can you take a look at your "free offers" on the pass pages. I used the Super Rewards by Perk and clicked on a chance to win a couple of passes by filling out surveys. I gave my email address and nothing else thankfully. I never received the "code" they told me I would get but a few minutes later received an APPLE ID email that said my ID is locked due to suspicious activity. I did some research and that email was a phishing attempt. Now, I don't have an apple ID so didn't fall for it but I know some of the people on this game may fall for such an attempt. I would hope that HOWRSE would take better care of their players who spend a lot of money sometimes on this game.

Please look into this.

Flip side being who wants to join/start a game where cheating is known to be rife?

Pretty sure they don't advertise Howrse as "the game where you people cheat!!!" when you sign up. In fact, I'd imagine most of the Howrse community had no idea that people were even "cheating".

Therefore, it does not really follow that people aren't joining the game because "cheating is known to be rife".

What do you expect us to do? Lay down and let them dictate everything they do so they can make money? If they just lowered the price of passes, they might not have this problem.

(I originally had a lot more smileys, but I got the message, and I quote: "Please do not overuse smileys")

lol You hear that? That's the sound of Howsre falling. I open multiple tabs to take care and blup my horses. What is wrong with a gaming mouse and are you saying that I can no longer trade BMI in exchange for Equus? That's how I made my money 98% of the time. I rarely sell any of my valuable horses.

I've been on the game for years and never heard of half the items on the list. What is gaming mouse?

I find this intriguing because I have no idea what scripting means, and absolutely no idea what a gaming mouse is (someone please tell me because I just can't imagine it) I think technology has seriously overtaken me somewhere!! default smiley :(

That has never been said.

Using the exchanges to trade BMs for other BM items or equus, is what it is there for.

There is nothing the matter with gaming mouse, as long as you aren't using the scripts that some of them can be programmed with, to automate the care of horses.

Scripting is the use of various add-ons and programs that mean the work of taking care of, training, working etc horses, is done automatically and at high speed, without the need for you to actually click the care buttons yourself. This is scripting and has always been against the rules, as it isn't a fair way to play default smiley (y)

Nope, sharing a computer or an IP isn't wha gets player accounts flagged up. As long as you are not logging into each others accounts with the password, you are fine default smiley :)

Raf's Mum This scripting sounds amazingly clever! Sadly probably way too clever for the likes of me to ever understand!

it does - and it is amazing as to what it can do, and sadly it can be used in ways that aren't always helpful in every situation, nor fair for the wider community on a game like this !

I am not saying I am doing something wrong, or 'illegal' in game, but I was just kind of confused over how you can cheat on this game. But I do agree. Cheating is unfair to players who are playing the game the right way.

I have few more things to add regarding the spring cleaning... I noticed that many players on few servers brought that issue up ... It's about the fact that those who use scripts can be easily spotted by the number of horses they train each day ... For a human hand it's impossible to take care of a 1000 horse ... I have seen on several servers players who have over 1000+ horses done per day ... So I tested few times how many I can do as my record and I came to the number 344 horses trained fully (food, water, stroke, comeptions, training, missions)... And around 620 if I only feed and stroke and put them to bed... And I play on smart phone all the time... So no way you can do more than that without help of other person or a scripts... I think there could be a simple solution is to stop scripts users by simply lowering the amount of aps player can gain with the daily horse caring ... And also there should be no option putting horse to sleep before you fully take care of it (food,water,stroke,missions,training,)... Because I do all fully and to me is unfair that players can gain more by just clicking 2 buttons on each horse ... Those payers don't deserve that ap as reward...or maybe that ap reward should be given if you fully take care of a horse and then horse can give you ap or not

Other thing that bothers me on howrse is also the fact that many top players hide money in the store stock... For example they gained in game like 30.000.000 and they don't wanna spend extra money on vet when babies are born so they take money and transfer it in the store section ... Because fodder and oats both have same price as buying and selling object, they hide money in shape of fodder and oats ... To me that is cheating because I play by the rules and I pay vet by higher price because I'm rich and that is right thing to do ... But some try to benefit even from that and hide money... Its like a londery of money by my opinion and should be stopped... Because it's unfair to have such advantage over new players .

And last thing is about age 30+ pass horses ... I think that this is the main reason why players cheat and use scripts ... They wanna an easy and fast way to age horse so that they can kill it and gain passes ... So I think the horse that reach age 25 years of age should be automaticly be blocked and player no longer can sell it to another player... That kind of restriction would make cheaters leave the game by themselves because they would no longer be ble to use multis for pass horses anyway and game itself won't be interesting to them no more.

Many players will be mad because I suggested those things but as someone who love this game and spend money for it ...I think it's necessary to make it fair for all players.

I didn't get my answer before so I'm gonna try again. I'm most likely gonna quit.default smiley :s Because I don't want my sister to get banned or something. Can I sell my horses and give my BMIs to my firends and sister or will that get them in some kind of trouble?

Yes, you can do that, as admin have already said. Having an account along with a sibling, is not an issue if you are not accessing each others accounts. Having more than 1 account that you are using as multi accounts is what is going to get players banned.

I understand your frustration and it is difficult however I will try to answer as many points as I can. I can only answer from a moderator point of view as I am sure you appreciate.

Each server is subject to the same rules as all the others. However it would not be practical for them all to be run by the same team of Admin and of course, each has its own team of mods. This means that there will always be differences in the way that rules and forums are managed, due to language and, particularly, cultural differences and the fact that all of us are fallible human beings. The spring clean is at least in part an attempt to bring every server into closer observance of the rules.

On the issue of forum comments and the way they are dealt with, again it may partly be down to cultural views on things. I am in the UK and don’t always know or agree with the way other cultures on here, including our large contingent from the US, view words and the use of them. This is one reason we ask you to report. You can tell us your views on other player’s behaviours. We may not always agree with you and we have strict guidelines to follow when considering reports but it does help us to understand which issues are important to you.

As the other moderator told you we do take harassment very seriously but it often happens via pm and if it is not reported we cannot see it.

I will also take this opportunity to note that, as mods we are not expected to police the site although we do jump in when rules are obviously broken, cursing, shaming other players etc. Again we rely on players to tell us when they feel something crosses the boundaries so that we may make our own, informed, decisions. In turn Admin are always happy to step in if you explain to them in Contact Us when you feel things are not happening as they should.

If I have missed anything I apologize. Please feel free to ask again here or you are very welcome to pm me if you prefer.

Thank you for answering I appreciate it very much.default smiley :d

Hello,

Some of the sanctions that we issue are not visible to anyone but the player who is sanctioned. It's possible that those players got official warnings. You would never be able to tell.

Not everyone stops behavior just because someone on the staff speaks to them about it.

The bottom line is that we can never discuss another player's punishment with you and you can't see all of the actions that we can take. So, it may not be obvious that we did anything.

As far as consistency between the servers, that's a trickier question. They are not only different languages, they're different cultures. We're working to bring them inline with each other but it's going to take a lot of work.

This is part of the process.

So basically you want Howrse to ban people selling oats and fodder as well as selling it back to the shop? Thats how it sounds thats all default smiley :p

When I could use the iMacros, I could get all 1200 horses done in 30 minutes (with 6 windows open at once), now I have to hand do every horse and I can only get around 350 done. It is really sad that they are taking this advantage away from us. I feel that there are going to be a lot fewer people playing Howrse now. So sad.
