[Updated] Black Pearl Clarification
she wish to know what do you guys think of her art and if she have to fix anything
I think your friend's art looks really good already! I don't think there is anything that should be 'fixed', though I would advise your friend to use different shading colors. Right now (looking at the brown horses) she uses a darker shade of her base color for the shading. It's not wrong, but using different colors for the shading (more red-ish browns, even purples, and also yellows for highlights) can make them look a lot more interesting, unique and more 'alive'.
Your friend has a good base, so it can only get better. Keep up the great work
Why isn't it allowed to make landscapes/coats inspired by a fandom?
I can't see why fanart is against the rules...
It's because of copyright. If you use something that is copyrighted, those who own the content could sue Howrse for selling their product/idea/mm without their consent and getting rich at it.
Also, there is a big difference between inspiration and using existing content. Let's say you get inspired by an anime show or a superhero.
What you can do is:
*do a spider-related horse as far no patterns or symbols can be linked to Spidermen. Using the same clothing spidermen is using is a no-no.
*Draw your coat/landscape in a cartoony style, use cell-shading mm.
Inspiration = get an idea of something that exists, but not using the existing content to create your work. At least on Howrse.
I had one coat made that was inspired by the ending of Final Fantasy VII (it is in the game). However, the said coat has nothing trademarked/copyrighted content itself and cant be linked to the game. Also, that isn't a character made into a horse (with many people would probably claim it was ).
Inspiration is fine,as far you dont rip-off the exact idea from something.
Does anyone know a good a good program for removing the background on creations? Thanks in advance!
The first obvious response is always Photoshop (not free), but I know people who use GIMP (free program) to remove backgrounds. Unfortunately removing backgrounds is tedious no matter with program one uses...
