Oh my! What a non work of art that is! Such potential just trashed.

Seriously Howrse, get some artists that actually know and love horses. You can't keep making these monstrosities, throwing all sorts of armour (that would never work with horse anatomy) and cloths over them to try and hide the fact that they aren't conformationally correct!

Oh my.. I could curse so much right now!

One hoof bigger and out of shape compared to the others, and the leg it is stuck on the end of looks too long.

What the heck is going on with the neck and head???

Where is his tail? Let me guess, hidden under the blanket because someone can't get it right?

A horse would never wear a visor like that!

None of that armour would move with the horse!

Oh my.. I'm so sad and angry default smiley :$default smiley :( I was really excited when the Grails were first announced. The first series in years that I wanted them all right from the off. But it seems like you are throwing any old non artistic junk at us!

And yes, if I had the equipment and education your artists have, yes, I could do better! In fact I probably could with Paint and my ancient Trust drawing tablet.

Oh for goodness sake. Shakes head and decides it's time to give up on Howrse. I feel like it's on a not so slow decline and speeding up every month.

I do feel bad the amount of stick the artists get. Horses are hard to draw, and I think they do a fairly good job on the whole... But I do wish they'd run them past a panel that really know both horses and art before they finalise them. That helmet is going to give me the creeps. I'm trying to see it as a cartoon horse with eyes on the front... but really I'd rather not.

PS: I keep forgetting to say... I do love it that they gave Merry Christmas white markings!

I do agree, but if I'm correct I think they do already go through a 'panel'. Since it is well, concept art... there are usually a few numbered thumbnails which may have different poses, colour swatches, varying armour etc. Parts are chosen from those designs which are then used to result in the final piece. So I'd assume they are approved before being placed into the game.

If you mean a panel which is outside of the howrse art team then I can't see that happening unfortunately. It would be cool if we could have a spoiler art poll or such where the players can put in a vote to which designs they like the best.

It does seem anatomy and accessory placement/perspective was a little less thought about this time round though.

It sure is hard to draw horses.

Thank you Raf's Mum default smiley (l)

I understand what you are saying RowanGreen but we have BP artists that could knock this out of the water on a bad day. And the game artists are being paid and presumably have degrees and state of the art equipment etc.

They might be fantastic at industrial or WoW or CoD type art but this is a horse based game so surely being very proficiant at designing and creating new horse based concepts should be a very basic requirement?

Yuki = torso too long, near fore out of proportion, chest hidden by cloth.

Lancelot = Teeny, tiny eyes, hind quarters and legs at some impossible angle given his movement, chest not wide enough for the bulk of his neck and head.

LotL = Off hind at some strange angle, tiny eyes again.

I've jiust gone through Ow's production, all divines are released there first, right?, and we haven't had a decent horse horse in over a year. Quindecim is superb but he's part mechanical so.. In fact almost every divine released for over a year has been dragon/monstrous/almost fully hidden behind a costume of some type. I haven't gone back further.

I know there are odd little conformation/artist faults with other series', Gems, Rainbows etc, but that seems more forgiveable because they are plainly horses with little quirks. If the latest ones with 80% coverage/other creature bodies still can't get the small percentage of horse visible correct then what hope is there?

Knock this out of the water? What does that mean? Is it even a thing?

I think I meant knock it out of the ballpark.

Ooohh, just Googled - blow someone or something out of the water
phrase of blow

completely discredit someone or something by far surpassing them or exposing their flaws.
"I thought the first season was good, but season two blows it right out of the water"

Jumble them up - they are much more interesting that way default smiley :-))

My current favourite saying is one from my boss, who regularly tells me he has *lots of irons in the fire, but he is keeping them all close to his chest *

As a total non-graphic non-drawing person, I do have favourites, and those that are not so likeable in my eyes. I loved the original Gypse graphic, not so much the new version. And I miss the bucket and spade UFO default smiley (lol)

*lots of irons in the fire, but he is keeping them all close to his chest * Haha, brand that man good and proper default smiley xd

Bucket and spade UFO?? I don't remember that! Although my middle aged brain still has to correct me sometimes when I think the box of equus UFO is the PoC box UFO from back along default smiley xd

I love my Rainbows and almost all of them have one or two little parts that could be slightly improved. But because I loved the concept as soon as I heard of them, and was determined to have them all, I love them all. That's the only series in my Howrse history that I wanted right from the off. Until the Grails came along. Maybe I built them up too much in my own mind but with the advances in technology and abilities I really thought they would be exceptional. I've seen better looking horses on games that aren't even horse based so expectations were high. We hear it all the time about our horse breeds art here, same template for multiple breeds, little character in each of them, specific breed/type conformation being ignored, same old same old, rinse and repeat. Sigh.

Gypse had to be reconstructed every day with spade and bucket. Then you'd get some sand to use as skills default smiley :p

The bucket and spade was the UFO that was triggered when you went to Gypse's page the first time that day - the event he was released in was all about sand, and we collected sand from Timers to earn stuff, and the Gypse was in flash sales, which I think was the first time the flash sales had appeared. I freely ( if a little bit geeky ) admit to spending wayyyy more hours waiting for the divine to appear in the sales, and trying to click first ! He had cute little starfish and things on his coat, which I loved. I got him a sea based background, which doesn't make as much sense now he is Gypsum !

I suppose we all have favourites, and I think I enjoy finding HR's for them, but yes, some of the graphics always seem a bit out of focus, or odd in some way. Mind you, given my lack of drawing ability, they are still amazing !

I think of my Brave Purple as Giraffe Horse.

I do dislike how the last few series any horse bits have a tendency to be sort of sludge coloured and dull. A few more definite horse colours, markings and maybe even some shiny coats would make a big difference.
