Any opinions on this cross of mine? Not really sure what to do with him.

He could be a good sire for some gallop or sj crosses?

Are any breeds really "good" at reigning? Also, I just bred a really good pure selle, and I was wondering if anyone had any cool selle dominant crosses to try.

Are any breeds really "good" at reigning? Also, I just bred a really good pure selle, and I was wondering if anyone had any cool selle dominant crosses to try. ![]() I believe the Lipizzaners are the top Grand Prix horses in that discipline, you can get a 14000+ gelding in the sales but the publicly available gp of breedable stock is around 12000. ![]()

Hmmm, I might have to do that, I made the mistake of a western ec and I have a comp I'm trying to turn into a rosette. I checked the breeds sheet and I couldn't find a terribly good match, so I was hoping there might be a good cross for reigning (it's at like, 60 some prestige) so I could boost the prestige over to 75 since the skills required are a bit odd. The problem is finding breeds with odd skills that have a high gp (since selles and gypsies are like, super horses right now and every other breed is doing good to have 13700+.

I'm trying to find a good selle cross, do you know if there is a place to get decent KWPN's? I know I think it was team Inferno that used to do them then gave them up in favor of selles, so I was curious if the breed had decent genetics or anything yet. Close to top GP KWPNs and Selles are usually in either sales or covers. One of my KWPN dominant Selle crosses was the number 1 KWPN in total skills, and was bred using a mare from sales and stallion from public covers. I just run some calculations beforehand to make sure the available GP will get me what I need. Sometimes I look during a lull, when lots of the good stuff has been taken, so if my calculated GP looks a little low I either check back later that day or the next. ![]()

The problem is finding breeds with odd skills that have a high gp (since selles and gypsies are like, super horses right now and every other breed is doing good to have 13700+. You inspired me!, I'm trying to get a decent horse for each Grand Prix event but can't afford a 1500 pass Lipizzaner and my 12000 gp Lips can't compete, but I've had some fun playing with gallopers so why not reining? I went through the breeds, available genetics, and best skills hoping to find something that might work. A gypsy's stamina (or an arab), a TB's gallop, and a Lusitano's dressage might make a good mix. I found a good gp gypsy mare with morpheus's arms at a reasonable rate in the sales, found a surprising public cover (someone bought one of my TB/lusitano galloping reject colts and raised him up!) and ended up with a 50% Gypsy/25% each lus/TB. Not quite up to the top of the line Lipizzaner genetics, but not bad for a first try and I think he may be competitive. Any ideas on further improving the cross?, I'd love to hear your thoughts: https://www.howrse.com/elevage/chevaux/cheval?id=59968315 ![]()

Wow! Really impressive gp for a first try! especially since working with gypsy vanners is kind of hard due to finding high gp mares or ungelded stallions or public covers! I think with some beach rides to boost his skills he could be a really good reigner! I was always trying to crossbreed a good horse for like, gallop, Xcountry, dressage or jump comps but there were breeds out there that were already good for those. But with western comps, they are so "odd" skill-wise I think it's where cross breeding can truly shine! I think we may have stumbled on a golden opportunity here! After a couple of generations do I think the gp would improve enough to be rosette competitive! This could be a really fun project!

I'm still learning as far as how skills improve between breed generations so I'm not entirely sure how one would go about breeding with her to get better reigners, especially with like, purebred/crossbred ratios, but experimenting would certainly be fun.

I have started to breed cross breeds. I love it! Only started the other day but it will be interesting to see how it goes ❤️

I'm currently working on TB/Lusi crosses, so if anyone needs anything, once my babies are grown up let me know

To get a 25% across 4 breeds would you breed two 50:50s (so four breeds overall) and then breed those 2 50:50s together?

Yep! As long as they were different breeds that works.

Skylark, the new Camargue breed has the skills for reigning! Crossbreeding with them is going to be great! I am so excited! I just bought one, despite it costing me over 70,000...

I just bought one, despite it costing me over 70,000... ![]() I won a filly in the promo today and am pretty excited, but how many generations to reach 13000+ gp when you start at around 4000? I'm getting about a 5-7 gp point increase on lusitanos in each succeeding generation currently but maybe it is different for new breeds (this is my first breed intro)? It will be intriguing to watch the breed develop ![]() ![]()

Hmm, maybe we could breed them to the crossbred type you just made? It would retain the skills we're looking for, then keep breeding the offspring trying to keep them carmargue dominant until you eventually breed out the gypsy, thoroughbred and lusi?

|
sherwood02 is right, you can't breed a crossbreed back to being purebred - its offspring will always show as crossbred.
|
Really? That's fascinating. What about if you breed that offspring to a pure cam after their gp is higher, and then only bred that offspring back to outside cams? would they still always show as a cross?
![]() ![]() ![]()

Yes, it's no longer possible to breed a horse back to 100%. You can only get to 99%. It used to be possible, but players would crossbreed to get big jumps in GP, then breed back to pure.
I realized something last night when I went to bed...My second all-breed project is messed up now that we have the Camargue ![]() I started that second project last year after we got the Kerry Bog, but I've been poking along at such a slow pace that I haven't finished it yet. I think I may just finish it out how I have it, then breed my final foal to the Camargue. I may do that from now on, actually. Just breed each "all-breed" horse to the new breed instead of starting a whole new project each time. ![]()

SO excited about the Camargues. I've had a ton of fun experimenting with some cute crosses. Seems like they might be good for low level trot.

I'm excited to see what I end up doing with mine!!! I've got 2 fillies and then a sales-bought colt so far - just gotta find out how to blup them and then I can start looking at crosses!
Question - does anyone have any favorite vanner or pony breed crosses? ![]()
