[Info] Blupping Info and Help

Regarding blupping your horses.

Many people have questions about what blup is and how to blup a horse. This thread is intended to help answer some of those questions.
Please feel free to join in and post any schedules that you may have that you have tested and found to work for you. All tips for all breeds are encouraged. We also encourage people to help each other with tips on how to get those elusive 20 wins that are required to get your horse to 100 blup.

The following is a little info about what blup is and what you need, to get to 100 blup.

Best Linear Unbiased Prediction
The BLUP is a genetic index. It plays a role in reproduction. It is therefore recommended that you select trained horses as reproducers and those that have excelled in competitions.
To have the best reproducers and have every chance of having the best foals possible, it is preferable to select horses with a high, or at least a positive, BLUP, i.e. mainly well trained individuals.

Blup starts at -100 and can reach +100 (that means that there are a total of 200 blup points available for every horse.)
You get 130 points for completed training in your best three skills, this includes rides and comps., the skill must go bold before this requirement is met.
40 points for reaching the age of 10
30 points for winning 20 competitions.
All these points are gained over time a little each day until you reach 100.
You cannot see the blup until you reach riding level 4.

If you want to read more about it, it is in the breeders manual under genetics

Hi there!default smiley :)

I used to play in 2018 and I have decided to come back. I used a very good BLUP and daily activity guide but I cannot find it and those I'm finding now a little bit different. Does anyone have an idea where could I find them? I think it was on one of the EC's forum that's why it is not here... I know it's not much but I cannot remember more. ^^"

I know Dr. Zig has some pretty good guides, and Saint (who also posts here often) and myself have also made our own.

Welcome back! A lot is different, but it's not bad once you're back in the swing of things default smiley ^)

Stamina/Dressage/Jump schedule
Works for Akhal-Tekes, Barbs, Shayga Arabians, Canadian Horses, Connemaras, Gypsy Vanners, Arabians, Russian Dons, and Donkeys
Click to display
Steps marked (Optional) are just that. They won't help with the BLUP, but they may help your horse get wins. Optional steps are more recommended for lower skilled/GP horses.

For rookie schedules, there will be a value "X." To find X, use the following:
X=rookie limit - (skill GP x 0.2)
The rookie limit can be found in section 2.5 of the equestrian center manual.
Skill GP being the GP for that specific skill (ie speed, dressage, etc) which can be found in the horse's genetics tab.

Classical (Recommended)
Board in forest EC
Foal games (optional for BLUP)
Forest rides until no gains
Train dressage and jump (no higher than X {see description} for rookie, fully if not)
Enter (rookie) cross country comps until no gains
Finish training stamina, dressage, and jump and do mountain rides (switch to mountain ec if you can)
If wins still needed, try gallop or trot comps (may need some speed training)
Age to 10

Western
Board in Mountain EC
Foal games (optional for BLUP)
Mountain rides until no gains
Train stamina and jump (no higher than X {see description} for rookie, fully if not)
(Optional) train trot (no higher than X {see description} for rookie, fully if not)
Enter (rookie) trail comps until no gains
Train dressage (to just below rookie limit if rookie, fully if not)
Enter (rookie) reining comps until no gains
Finish training stamina, dressage, and jump and do forest rides (switch to forest ec if you can)
If wins still needed, try western pleasure comps
Age to 10

Additional tips:
-Stay away from breed-only comps. GVs are some of the highest GP horses in the game, and unless you're in with the top teams, you're probably going to get wrecked.
-***Do Rookie If Your Horse Qualifies*** (for the same reasons as above)
-Enter 1 lower skilled horse in the same comps as the horse you're BLUPing to fill one spot with a horse you know you can beat
-While GVs have the perfect skill set for XC, sometimes it's easier to get wins in WP or barrels. If you're not having good luck in one type of comp, try a different one (Note: remember that unless you have the VIP perk you cannot switch your horse's specialty after 5 years old)

Does anyone have a schedule for making the most of a horse's time if they don't have any BMIs but do have a trough and shower? I'm not sure if I'm doing the most I can in a horse's day.

Hi - I have this schedule for thoroughbreds, but the ideas could be extended to other breeds.
Basically it is exercise to 67-70% energy > feed 14 fodder / 15 oats > exercise of choice to 0 energy > drink/mash > exercise to 0 energy > stroke > carrot default smiley :)

I'm trying to get my horse, Tiramisu, to 100 BLUP. I have completed the training, and the three skills are bolded, but it still says my training isn't complete for the three skills... am I missing something???

You must bold the top three skills by GP. For a Hanoverian, that is speed / gallop / jump. You bolded dressage instead of gallop. You will need to complete 25 competitions that use gallop (gallop races or dressage for classical) to get 100 BLUP.

What are his top 3 GP skills? the schedule you need to follow depends on what those 3 skills are.

This is what I do on a day-to-day basis to get the most out of my horse's time and energy.

Brush
rides/training/comps until out of energy or 20:00
Stroke
Water
Carrot
Mash
Feed
rides/training/comps until 20% energy or 22:00 if not already
bed down
age

Some people prefer to do less training at first and feed earlier in the day but I find I run out of time if I do that usually. Following that procedure, with no missions and only focusing on the top 3 skills I can almost always get a horse's BLUP to 100 at 10 years old (at MINIMUM 60, if I can't get wins for whatever reason) regardless of shower, EC location, BMIs, etc. Certain breeds where you have to enter multiple types of comps to get all the gains (Newfies, Percherons, etc) can make it a bit tricky but it is often possible.

Obviously, to make things a little easier on yourself, showers and water troughs help a ton, as do matching your EC location to ride location when you're doing those. Even with just those things I can have top 3 skills bolded for most horses by about 7 years old then I just need to make sure I have wins.

Things could have changed (I'm very on and off with this game.), but should you BLUP a donkey? I think I remember reading that donkeys are different from other breeds, and you have to do things differently (their GP should go down - not up, you shouldn't train them, etc.), but I'm not sure. TIA!

I've always had the best luck training Trot/Gallop first and not training dressage until after I'm done with dressage comps. This is what I do:
