Horses are a big part of American history, especially the Wild West- and no breed of horse stirs up images of the American frontier as well as the Paint Horse. They are a beautiful and living monument of our past.

It is known that the Nez Perce were the first ones to breed Appaloosas. It began when Russians came to trade with the Indians for goods.The Russians anchored their ship and sent three spotted stallions to the shore in trade for the goods. The stallions were then sold to the Nez Perce tribe who bred them with their best mares.

The American Quarter Horse is the most versatile breed in the world. It is the first breed native to the US, and resulted when bloodlines of horses brought to the New World were mixed. This breeding produced a horse of both great speed and strength, yet gentle nature. Its roots are in ranching and racing, but excels in many areas and is considered the world's most popular breed.

       History of the Hanoverian                        

The Hanoverian breed originated in North West Germany. There they were used as carriage horses, military horses, and farm horses. Today, Hanoverians are used for competitions, and excel in the equestrian disciplines of jumping, dressage, and eventing. They are known to be a breed of noble stature with a kind personality.
